Fierce Beast-Fist Beast Arts users, the Gekirangers

Fierce Beast-Fist Beast Arts (激獣拳ビーストアーツ, Geki Jūken Bīsuto Ātsu) is a fictional school of martial arts practiced by the protagonists of the Japanese Super Sentai show Jūken Sentai Gekiranger. Those that practice Fierce Beast-Fist use the Geki (激気(げき), Geki, Fierce Spirit) energy within their bodies as their power source. The sporting goods company SCRTC (スクラッチ, Sukuratchi, pronounced like the English word scratch) serves as a front for the martial arts school, specirically its Gekirangers.

Gekirangers

Retsu (Takagi), Ran (Fukui), and Jan (Suzuki)
"Our blazing Geki is the proof of justice! Jūken Sentai Gekiranger!" (燃え立つ激気は正義の証!獣拳戦隊ゲキレンジャー!, Moetatsu Geki wa seigi no akashi! Jūken Sentai Gekirenjā!)

Jan Kandou

"Infinite power flows in my body. The 'Unbreakable Body,' GekiRed!" (体にみなぎる無限の力 「アンブレイカブル・ボディ」 ゲキレッド!, Karada ni minagiru mugen no chikara. "Anbureikaburu. Bodi" GekiReddo!)

Jan Kandou (漢堂 ジャン, Kandō Jan) / GekiRed (ゲキレッド, GekiReddo) practices the Fierce Beast Tiger-Fist (激獣タイガー拳, Gekijū Taigāken) style, though still a beginner, his main focus is on power. He was raised by tigers deep within the forest for unknown reasons and befriended a panda. His true origins are unknown. Because of his upbringing, his senses have been sharply enhanced and he feels with his body, not with the brain. Although at first he doesn't understand certain concepts or training, he eventually picks up and learns about it at a fairly high pace. He does not know very many common words so he sometimes describes things with words such as "niki-niki", "zowa-zowa", "waki-waki", his own personal "Jan-ish" language. He was scouted by Shafu because he personifies the "Body" (体, Tai, also pronounced as Karada) of a Gekiranger: he can be pinned against the ground by a big log with no harm at all. As he was raised by animals, he doesn't know and has to learn about the "Heart". Jan is eventually labeled as Rio's rival after witnessing the display of power used to stop his own attack. Jan is a pun on "jump."

At some point, he will become Super GekiRed (スーパーゲキレッド, Sūpā Gekireddo).

Ran Uzaki

"Diligence day by day, refining my heart. The 'Honest Heart,' GekiYellow!" (日々是精進、心を磨く 「オネスト・ハート」 ゲキイエロー!, Hibi kore shōjin, kokoro wo migaku. "Onesuto Hāto," GekiIerō!)

Ran Uzaki (宇崎 ラン, Uzaki Ran) / GekiYellow (ゲキイエロー, GekiIerō) is an employee of SCRTC and a Fierce Beast Cheetah-Fist (激獣チーター拳, Gekijū Chītāken) artist, using a combination of speed and accuracy in her attacks. Her family owns a Karate Dojo, making her a bit masculine and a sore loser. In a flashback, she wanted to resign from learning the Beast Arts because she didn't think she was good enough but Shafu told her to think her action through. She relies more in will than technique when fighting. Upright and cleanhanded, Ran will do things always the right way, being a fighter that gives "Heart" (心, Shin, also pronounced as Kokoro) the highest place. She excels in speed, but her reluctance to care for the small details make her "Technique" very poor. From learning Master Elehung's Fierce Beast Elephant-Fist (激獣エレファント拳, Gekijū Erefantoken), Ran became more loose and happy in the process. Ran is a pun on "run."

At some point, she will become Super GekiYellow (スーパーゲキイエロー, Sūpā GekiIerō).

Retsu Fukami

"The great blossom colored with technique. The 'Fantastic Technique,' GekiBlue!" (技が彩る大輪の華 「ファンタスティック・テクニック」 ゲキブルー!, Waza ga irodoru tairin no hana. "Fantasutikku Tekunikku," GekiBurū!)

Retsu Fukami (深見 レツ, Fukami Retsu) / GekiBlue (ゲキブルー, GekiBurū) is an employee of SCRTC and a Fierce Beast Jaguar-Fist (激獣ジャガー拳, Gekijū Jagāken) practitioner. He originally had a promising career in painting but took a break to learn the same fighting style as his older brother had to find the same motivation that it gave his brother. Retsu is very intelligent but also selfish, doesn't take interest in others, and gives an impression of extreme coldness. He believes that winning should be like a painting, complete and something that moves you. He sometimes mixes English when speaking. He learned of moving sensation of a trance when he mastered Bat Li's Fierce Beast Bat-Fist (激獣バット拳, Gekijū Battoken) style. He knows various "Techniques" (技, Gi, also pronounced as Waza), putting them in first priority when training. His attention to beauty costs him stamina, making his "Body" his weakest point. Retsu is a pun on "let's."

At some point, he will become Super GekiBlue (スーパーゲキブルー, Sūpā GekiBurū).

GekiViolet

GekiViolet (ゲキバイオレット, GekiBaioretto) is the fourth member and a Fierce Beast Wolf-Fist (激獣ウルフ拳, Gekijū Urufuken) user. The identity of this Gekiranger is currently unknown.

However, he made a Beast-Fist Oath of non-violence long ago, though he made a few exceptions in regards of non-violent defense moves. He appears to be an aged anthropomorphic cat with large ears (very likely a caracal cat) and his eyes closed, opening them when he gets serious and deep. He loves to be scratched on the neck, referred to by Jan as "Cat", and always carries around a triangle with him. His motto is "There is training in one's livelihood" (暮らしの中に修行あり, Kurashi no naka ni shugyō ari), as his training has the Gekirangers learning from the various things life has to offer. "

Miki Masaki

Miki Masaki (真咲美希, Masaki Miki) is is a high executive of SCRTC who unites the team with strength and kindness. She is an assistant to Shā-Fū and also a student of Fierce Beast-Fist Beast Arts, mastering the Fierce Beast Leopard-Fist (激獣レオパード拳, Gekijū Reopādoken) style. She doesn't really like Elehung, even though he is attracted to her.

Natsume

Natsume Masaki (真咲なつめ, Masaki Natsume): The daughter of Miki Masaki, she has helped out the Gekiranger team by practicing dancing along with them and teaching Jan how to be patient with "Koto-Koto."

RoboTough

RoboTough (ロボタフ, Robotafu) is a Beast-Fist Trainer Droid. It is a robot that assists the Gekirangers in their Beast-Fist Training. It was programed with three level settings: Beginner, Expert, and the rarely used Cat Mode.

The Fist Saints

Many years ago, the ten masters of Beast-Fist used secret Beast-Fist techniques to transform themselves into anthropomorphic animals. Due to idealistic differences, they split off into what is now the Fierce Beast-Fist and Confrontation Beast-Fist styles. Three became the Three Fist Demons. The remaining seven called themselves the Fist Saints (拳聖, Kensei). Shā-Fū is the first to be revealed as a Fist Saint. The others have taught his Gekiranger students the weaponry techniques of their schools. Each of the Fist Saints so far have been named after a prominent figure in martial arts movies.

Elehung

Master Elehung Kinpō (マスター・エレハン・キンポー, Masutā Erehan Kinpō, 10-): Another legendary Fist Saint who is a master of the Fierce Beast Elephant-Fist (激獣エレファント拳, Gekijū Erefantoken) style that relies on a ball and chain with playful antics. As such, he is an anthropomorphic elephant and is somewhat perverted around women, being called Erohung. He is an old friend of Shā-Fū's, living on Shibe Mountain where he tested the Gekirangers in the guise of a mononoke, taking the package the Gekirangers were given to deliver to him. Elehung, due to his perverted nature, chose Ran as his student of Elephant-Fist so she can master the GekiHammer. His motto is "There is training while having fun" (遊びの中に修行あり, Asobi no naka ni shugyō ari), which gave Ran a hard time. His name is based off of Sammo Hung Kinpō (サモ・ハン・キンポー, Samo Han Kinpō).

Bat Li

Master Bat Li (マスター・バット・リー, Masutā Batto Rī, 13-): A legendary Fist Saint who is a master of the Fierce Beast Bat-Fist (激獣バット拳, Gekijū Battoken) style that while appears to focus on graceful and elegant techniques combined with artistic beauty, actually relies on being in a trance of sorts. He appears as an anthropomorphic bat in Barong attire. Stubborn and eccentric, he considers hanging upside down as a great way to relieve stress. Though he refused at first, Bat Li eventually decides to trains Retsu after witnessing his abilties first hand. His motto is "There is training while under a trance" (忘我の中に修行あり, Bōga no naka ni shugyō ari). His name is based off of Jet Li (ジェット・リー, Jetto Rī).

Sharkie Chan

Master Sharkie Chan (マスター・シャッキー・チェン, Masutā Shakkī Chen, 17-): A legendary Fist Saint who is a master of the Fierce Beast Shark-Fist (激獣シャーク拳, Gekijū Shākuken) style that uses twin swords. He appears as an anthropomorphic Great White and trains Jan to use the GekiSaber. His name is based off of Jackie Chan (ジャッキー・チェン, Jakkī Chen). Not much else is known at this time.

Arsenal

  • Beast-Fist Henshin GekiChanger (獣拳変身ゲキチェンジャー, Jūken Henshin GekiChenjā): A three button, two piece henshin device created by SCRTC to use the Geki of its wielder as a power source. It also can store a number of things including weapons in a pocket dimension. The changer is attached to the wrist and knuckles of the wearer. By forming a Wushu hand formation and using the henshin call "Beast On!" (ビースト・オン!, Bīsuto On!), the user transforms into a Gekiranger.
    • Super GekiClaw (スーパーゲキクロー, Sūpā GekiKurō): This item clips onto the GekiChanger and allows the Gekirangers to become the Super Gekirangers.
  • GekiNunchaku (ゲキヌンチャク, GekiNunchaku): These are GekiRed's personal weapons.
  • GekiTonfa (ゲキトンファー, GekiTonfā): Each of the Gekirangers have two tonfa as side-arms with three mode settings. They can be used like normal tonfa, be combined together to form a bo staff called GekiTonfa Long Baton (ゲキトンファーロングバトン, GekiTonfā Rongu Baton), or be used as two individual bladed weapons called GekiTonfa Baton (ゲキトンファーバトン, GekiTonfā Baton).
  • GekiBazooka (ゲキバズーカ, GekiBazūka): A cat-themed team-wielded cannon, modeled after Shā-Fū.

  • GekiFan (ゲキファン, GekiFan): A bladed-fan weapon wielded by GekiBlue as a result of Fierce Beast Bat-Fist (激獣バット拳, Gekijū Battoken) training. A offensive and defensive tool, opened or closed, it can split into the Double GekiFan.
  • GekiSaber (ゲキセイバー, GekiSeibā): Shark-themed bladed weapons wielded by GekiRed as a result of Fierce Beast Shark-Fist (激獣シャーク拳, Gekijū Shākuken) training. The GekiSaber has two forms: Paired Sword Mode (双剣モード, Sōken Mōdo) and Paired Sword Combination Mode (双剣合身モード).

GekiTohja

GekiTohja (ゲキトージャ, GekiTōja)(refactored from Tohja) is formed when the three GekiBeasts combine with the Gekiwaza: Beast Fist Gattai (ゲキワザ 獣拳合体, Gekiwaza Jūken Gattai), GekiTohja is formed. The primary attack of GekiTohja are using the tails of the three GekiBeasts as a three section staff called GekiSetsukon (ゲキセツコン, GekiSetsukon). GekiTohja's finishing Gekiwaza moves rely on his spinning, so far three where shown. The first and usual attack is called Great Firm Fist (大頑頑拳, Dai Gan Gan Ken) in which the robo's upper body spins 360 degrees delivering numerous consecutive hits to the enemy. The second is the Great Firm Kick (大頑頑脚, Dai Gan Gan Kyaku) in which the lower body spins rapidly delivering a double corkscrew kick from above. The third is Great Degree Kick (大分分脚, Dai Bun Bun Kyaku) in which GekiTohja's lower body spins around rapidly while one leg is extended as if it was figure skating.

It gives GekiTohja more armor and a wrecking ball/flail-like weapon called the EleHammer (エレハンマー, Erehanmā). This weapon allows GekiElephanTohja to perform an Gekiwaza called Great Firm Ball (大頑頑丸, Dai Gan Gan Gan).

GekiBat

GekiBat (ゲキバット, GekiBatto) is GekiBlue's Legendary GekiBeast that he obtains from mastering the Bat-Fist Style. It can combine with GekiTohja to become GekiBatTohja (ゲキバットージャ, Gekibattōja). Gekiwaza

The GekiChanger also can be used by the user to project his/her Geki to perform various attacks, known as "Gekiwaza" (ゲキワザ(激技), Gekiwaza, Fierce Techniques).

These Gekiwaza were described in promotional materials for the GekiChanger toy.

  • Geki Bullet (激気弾, Geki Dan)—A common Gekiwaza.

Shared Gekiwaza

  • Doubling Clone Fist (倍倍分身拳, Bai Bai Bunshin Ken)—This Gekiwaza allows its user, if he/she possess perfect Heart, Technique, and Body (心技体, Shin-Gi-Tai), to project his or her Geki. In the Gekirangers' case, they use their collective attributes to evoke the Gekiwaza, used as another Gekiwaza Beast-Fist Gattai (獣拳合体, Jūken Gattai) to form GekiTohja.
  • Fierce Cannon (激激砲, Geki Geki Hō)—A team Gekiwaza performed using the GekiBazooka. Initially, it required two minutes, but they soon overcame this limit. It requires all three Gekirangers to wield, transferring their collective Geki into the GekiBazooka to fire. Whenever the rangers fire it, Jan yells "Pork cube stew!" (豚の角煮, Buta no Kaku Ni) which is the name of the dish that Natsume was preparing for him when he learned how to be patient. If there is insufficient spirit, the cat head will close back up automatically, as shown in a Beast Arts Academy demonstration.
