embedded and prev_name1_ref do not work
@Underlying lk: you removed embedded in this revision and prev_name1_ref in this revision, which causes "unknown parameter" warning in some articles, e.g. in Veliky Novgorod. It looks like some other parameters should be used now, but I cannot guess which ones. Is there any way to fix this issue?
- It looks like Underlying lk is not around. I have restored
|embedded=. I don't know the history of|prev_name1=, but it looks like it has not displayed in this template for at least five years. It puts articles in Category:Russian inhabited locality articles with obsolete place names. – Jonesey95 (talk) 03:29, 17 April 2024 (UTC)

2021 census?
The 2021 census was three years ago, but the template only allows data from the 2010 census, which is very outdated. Why has no one bothered to update the template yet? 2003:6:21F9:988A:BD03:4391:81F1:256B (talk) 12:31, 25 June 2024 (UTC)
- I've wondered the same thing. The closest thing would be to use the pop_latest and pop_latest_date parameters, but those are for estimates, not for actual census figures. Wonder if someone will get around to it eventually. Procyon117 (talk) 18:11, 17 August 2024 (UTC)

- It has been already merged to Infobox:Settlement, against objections of people who actually worked with the template (including myself), and this is exactly the reason it is not functioning properly, and there is nobody around who can easily fix it. Ymblanter (talk) 06:10, 8 September 2024 (UTC)

- The template code prefers the 2018 Wikidata info over a manually entered parameter. Per this conversation and the above, this template needs a code update, tested in the sandbox. – Jonesey95 (talk) 16:15, 5 October 2024 (UTC)
