History
Benfica TV first aired on 2 October 2008 with an experimental broadcast of the 2008–09 UEFA Cup match between Napoli and Benfica. The broadcast reached the Middle East, North Africa, the United States, Brazil, Cape Verde, Angola, Mozambique, São Tomé and Príncipe, Andorra, Italy, France, Luxembourg, Monaco and Switzerland.

10 December – Regular broadcasts start at 10:00 (WET) on MEO.
2009
10 January – Benfica TV becomes available on Cabovisão, Ar Telecom, and Clix.
13 March – It becomes available in Cape Verde due to a partnership between MEO and ZAP.
12 July – It leads the ratings with an average a 21.9% share during Benfica's first friendly match of the season, against FC Sion.
2010
November – It reaches one million homes in Portugal.
5 April – It becomes available in France via Orange.
19 August – It starts the broadcast of Brasileirão matches.
25 October – Benfica confirms that, in the next season, their football matches at the Estádio da Luz will be broadcast by Benfica TV.
2013
28 February – Benfica announces that Benfica TV will exclusively broadcast, in Portugal, the next three seasons of the Premier League (2013–14 to 2015–16).
1 March – Domingos Soares de Oliveira (Benfica S.A.D. administrator) confirms that Benfica TV will be a subscription based channel in the 2013–14 season.
10 July – It becomes available again on Cabovisão.
12 July – Farense president António Barão confirms that the club's home games will be broadcast on Benfica TV.
29 July – It surpasses 100,000 subscribers.
12 August – It becomes available again on Vodafone.
25 August – It broadcasts for the first time an official Benfica match at the Estádio da Luz, and obtains an average rating of 1.8 and a 5.6% share, leading the audiences of Portuguese pay television and surpassing all Sport TV channels.
13 September – It becomes available on Optimus Clix.
10 December – Benfica S.A.D. administrator reveals that Benfica TV has higher rentability than expected and that some Portuguese clubs were pressured to not sign a contract with the channel, even if the contract is more "financially interesting".
2014
10 January – Benfica TV LiveMatch is launched as an internet pay-per-view service.
10 February – It reaches 307,872 subscribers, one day before the derby.
27 May – It announces the Ultimate Fighting Championship. On the same day, club president Luís Filipe Vieira reveals that Benfica TV has €30 million of revenue, and says that the channel was not created to compete with Sport TV, but to create contents for Benfica members.
30 May – On an interim report is mentioned that it has generated €20.2 million in revenue since July 2013 and that revenues from television rights became the main source of income of the club's S.A.D., after player transfers.
1 July – Its logo is rebranded to BTV, and an identification number is added for each channel (BTV 1, BTV 2).
28 July – Benfica S.A.D. administrator says that BTV has a revenue around €30 million, more than the previous €7.5 million when they did not manage the broadcasting rights of home games.
31 August – RTP1's Telejornal broadcasts without permission almost 3 minutes of the Lisbon derby match. It is the ninth most watched channel of the day with a 1.6% share, joining the top 10 of Portuguese television for the first time.
17 September – Benfica S.A.D. publishes the channel's gross profit of €28.1 million.
19 September – RTP2 mysteriously airs BTV's Benfica 10H for 10 minutes, instead of Euronews.
7 November – It becomes available in high-definition in the United States, Canada, France, England, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Angola, Cape Verde and Mozambique.
10 December – Domingos Soares de Oliveira expresses the intention of expanding the channel to South Africa and Venezuela to reach more Benfica supporters.
2015
10 January – It officially presents its broadcasting in Canada.
27 February – It becomes the club's second main source of revenue – €16.5 million (16%) – according to the S.A.D.'s quartely report.
26 April – It achieves a 2.0% share and ranks fourth on Portuguese cable TV during O Clássico.
