Super Eagles

lol. Hope the Super Eagles do well bro. I'm rooting for all the African countries in the tournament. Versace1608 (Talk) 21:07, 22 April 2014 (UTC)

Yea bro...Its Africa United this time around. Since 1930. We must make it count this time. Darreg (talk) 21:43, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
"That controversy section just keeps staring at my face anytime I am reading the article." LMAO at this man. This is so funny. I'm sorry, but I just can't stop laughing at this. Versace1608 (Talk) 04:25, 23 April 2014 (UTC)
lol no apologies needed. I was just trying to imply that it was too detailed than necessary. I am glad all the drama on Misplaced Pages in the last one week are now over. Darreg (talk) 07:18, 23 April 2014 (UTC)
  • I'm glad it's over too. And the double standards the admins are exhibiting is just a shame. I want to start a wiki diary userpage to link others to those conspiracies >:(. I wanna create funny userboxes too ;D ;D. Just watch me :D.--Jamie Tubers (talk) 14:31, 23 April 2014 (UTC)
I don't know about y'all, but I'm not done with the second incident. I'm with you on the userboxes Tubers. Versace1608 (Talk) 18:22, 23 April 2014 (UTC)
Yeah. I took it to the content dispute noticeboard. Versace1608 (Talk) 19:54, 24 April 2014 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for April 24

Tamara DOB settled

Hello Darreg, From the multiple reliable sources that Versace has presented, have proved you right about Tamara's age. I apologize for reverting your edits, only that I didn't see a reliable source backing her DOB up apart from The Tide News. Stanleytux (talk) 22:09, 5 May 2014 (UTC)

No problem. it's cool bro. Darreg (talk) 08:50, 6 May 2014 (UTC)

Wikilinking

Greetings Darreg, I don't think that there is a general consensus when it comes to freelinking/wikilinking ceremonial articles (awards, etc). You can either choose to link a topic once, or more than once. Versace1608 (Talk) 00:08, 17 May 2014 (UTC)

Alright, you mean like if an artiste was nominated for more than 1 category in an award ceremony, I could decide to wikilink his article several times for all the categories, right? Darreg (talk) 11:22, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
Correct. Versace1608 (Talk) 11:28, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
thanks. enjoy yhur wknd Darreg (talk) 11:35, 17 May 2014 (UTC)

AMMAs

Greetings Darreg. Thanks for creating the first four articles on your pages created link. I have a problem with the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actor and Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress articles. The title of these articles should be renamed to Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actor In A Leading Role and Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress In A Leading Role per the AMAA official website. These (and all other category) titles must correlate with the information on AMMA's official website. I wanted to move the page, but it would be rude of me not to talk to you first. Versace1608 (Talk) 00:54, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

I appreciate the honour of leaving a message on my talkpage before moving it. I also thought about that, but I was using the Academy Awards as my guide. I just discovered that BAFTA awards have category Best Actor in a Leading role as an article on wiki, so it is definitely not a Misplaced Pages guideline for the Best Actress article to be synonymous with the Best Actress in a Leading Role article. I will move it right away. Darreg (talk) 07:28, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

Africa Movie Academy Award for Most Promising Actor

I'm confused here Darreg. If this article is about the "Most Promising Actor", why is it that you have information about both genders? Shouldn't "Most Promising Actress" have its own article? If you are merging both genders, you should renamed the article. Versace1608 (Talk) 01:17, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

Actor could be used to denote both genders as in this case. There were some editions of the AMAAs that they had 2 separate categories for Most Promising Act, but most of the time and currently (10th edition) they have just ONE category for the award. It is not necessary to create 2 separate articles that have been merged and no longer exist. But if you think there should be a name change of "Actor" to maybe "Act" or something else, am cool with that, but I strongly oppose the creation of Most Promising Actor and Most Promising Actress articles for now. Darreg (talk) 07:40, 22 May 2014 (UTC)
If AMMA merges both genders most of the time, then I guess its fine to leave it the way it is. You are right about Actor being used to denote both genders. I personally don't like that though, but I'm sure that there is a logical reason for the denotation. Versace1608 (Talk) 11:38, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress In A Leading Role

Hello Darreg,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress In A Leading Role for deletion, because it seems to be a test. Did you know that the Misplaced Pages Sandbox is available for testing out edits?

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Versace1608 (Talk) 13:38, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

The deletion was on point. You were the one that made me use "In" and "A" instead of "in" & "a", I followed the wikilink you provided on my page without taking note of the case of my preposition, you don't need to apologise to me sha. lol. Darreg (talk) 13:58, 22 May 2014 (UTC)
Actually, I went by the information on the AMAA website. I tag the page for deletion using Page Curation because it was blanked. Versace1608 (Talk) 14:06, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

Monalisa Chinda

Wao! That Mona addition looks like good faith to me. I feel you could've just cleaned it up, delete controversial (doubtful) content or info that strongly need references, leave the rest and just tag for citations (and still leave message on the user's talkpage) instead of ruining the hardwork of that editor :(.--Jamie Tubers (talk) 00:30, 21 June 2014 (UTC)

If the editor is Monalisa herself or associated with Monalisa, that editor should not be editing the article. In my opinion, Darreg did the right thing. Versace1608 (Talk) 00:56, 21 June 2014 (UTC)
I would have worked on it if I had the time. That was why I even waited a few days before reverting. I had to choose between ignoring BLP violations for a comprehensive article or having a properly referenced stub. I opted for the latter. Welcome back to Misplaced Pages Tubers! All things being equal I should go back fully to editing after the Super Eagles game tonight. Darreg (talk) 11:41, 21 June 2014 (UTC)

User:Darreg/Naija

Hi Darreg, do you mind me editing this userbox so that people can change the figures? It'd still retain the words, just that people who haven't travelled to 6 states will be able to depict the number of states they've been to. Can I go ahead?--Jamie Tubers (talk) 02:14, 22 June 2014 (UTC)

Sure. Up Super Eagles. They made us proud today. Darreg (talk) 02:17, 22 June 2014 (UTC)
  • Thanks, it done! All you need do is edit your userpage to effect the changes. All that will be needed is add | and the number to the end of the userbox. i.e "User:Darreg/Naija|6" or "User:Darreg/Naija|2" etc....
And up eagles :D.--Jamie Tubers (talk) 02:40, 22 June 2014 (UTC)
Thanks. Darreg (talk) 08:12, 22 June 2014 (UTC)
@Darreg: I hope the Super Eagles advanced to the next round. They didn't play too well in the first two games. @Jamie Tubers: I'm glad that you made changes to the userbox. I traveled to 2 states while in Naija. I think I deserve to add this userbox to my userpage. :-) Versace1608 (Talk) 00:39, 25 June 2014 (UTC)
@Versace I hope you had a nice time visiting those two states while in Nigeria. You are free to include it or any other of my userboxes on your userpage. I was hoping for 4 African teams in the next round but the ref robbed CIV. I hope Ghana, Nigeria and Algeria make it. @Tubers Where did you watch Phone Swap? I have been longing to see the film. Darreg (talk) 13:59, 25 June 2014 (UTC)
The call the ref made in the Ivory Coast game was bs. I hope Ghana go through. I don't want the USA to advance. As for Nigeria and Algeria, they will advance. Versace1608 (Talk) 14:41, 25 June 2014 (UTC)
  • @Darreg: I saw Phone Swap while it was still showing at the cinemas. But I heard it's now on Unity TV. It's an Android VOD app. If you are a fan of VOD, I guess it's on most VOD sites eg Ibaka TV, OHBOX, Distrify etc, except IROKO ofcourse.--Jamie Tubers (talk) 16:50, 26 June 2014 (UTC)
Apart from Ibakatv, all the other platforms you listed are too complicated for use. I will just wait for it to enter to iROKOtv. Darreg (talk) 22:53, 28 June 2014 (UTC)
  • I don't think they are complicated lol, they are just like anyother VOD websites. I don't think Kunle will ever give his movies to iroko though. Atleast, not until they pay better price for film rights.--Jamie Tubers (talk) 20:56, 30 June 2014 (UTC)

@Versace1608: You said Nigeria was like your second country but you never actually told me your actual country. Darreg (talk) 11:45, 8 July 2014 (UTC)

I'm Liberian bro. I lived in Nigeria at two different time periods. My second stay lasted for two years, and my first lasted about 4 years. I thought you knew that. Versace1608 (Talk) 13:09, 8 July 2014 (UTC)
Cool. When I hear Liberia the first 2 people that come to my mind are George Weah and Charles Taylor. Darreg (talk) 14:16, 8 July 2014 (UTC)
Haha. I know right. They are two of the few famous people. You're forgetting the current president Ellen Johnson Sirleaf. I was in Nigeria when Obasanjo told Charles Taylor he could lived in exile there. Versace1608 (Talk) 14:25, 8 July 2014 (UTC)
OBJ betrayed him to get favour from the west. But since he was a bad guy (according to media) I guess it's was a good thing. The president will only take 3rd place in my popularity list. It's just like comparing GEJ to OBJ. OBJ is a legend in both good and evil similar to Charles Taylor. Darreg (talk) 14:40, 8 July 2014 (UTC)
👍 I like the above statement. Versace1608 (Talk) 15:24, 8 July 2014 (UTC)

Hello Darreg, I admit I am a newbie, but I do work for the company and the stuff I have put up is what has been requested. Please could you give me the name of the person who commissioned you to create this page so that we can have a discussion about this. This is the second time the edit has been undone and you are going to get me fired. Better still could you please edit what I have put up to make it encyclopaedic in nature.

Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adetoyan1 (talkcontribs) 13:42, 13 July 2014 (UTC)

  • Hi @Adetoyan: The fact that you work for the company infact makes it inappropriate to edit the article. For more info, see WP:INTEREST. Btw, no one commissions anyone to write articles here; if a subject is notable enough, it will be included on Misplaced Pages by one of the editors.--Jamie Tubers (talk) 14:38, 13 July 2014 (UTC)

Davido

Greetings Darreg, I removed information about Davido's graduation from Babcock University. Davido refuted rumors about his graduation and said that he'll be graduating next year. User:Jamie Tubers made it very clear to both of us months ago. We need to be careful how we add information to Misplaced Pages articles. I knew something was wrong about the story. Versace1608 (Talk) 15:42, 21 July 2014 (UTC)

I agree with you that we need to be more careful and that was even why I wanted it removed at first. Shortly after YNaija and some other soft-sell online websites reported that he graduated, I read in Punch Newspaper that contrary to popular views he actually did not convocate with the students but will convocate next year. It just skipped my mind to re-edit the article. I don't really see it as our fault because we provided reliable citation for the information we added. It's just that many of all these Nigerian websites do not really verify their news before publishing them. I am very sure people saw it on his Misplaced Pages page and told him that he has graduated when he definitely hasn't. 1 Darreg (talk) 16:33, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for the response. Smh man. Versace1608 (Talk) 17:22, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
No P. You were wrong when you once said you did not think Davido will still go back to school because he was already a star in music. Nigerian parents love certificates a-lot, I am sure it will be his dad that will be pressuring him to finish. Darreg (talk) 20:50, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
I know his dad is pressuring him, but the truth is that Davido has already made it big. He doesn't need to get a degree to validate his level of success. Davido has already left his mark on the Nigerian music industry. The sky is the limit for him. When he retires from music, he will definitely be mentioned alongside Fela, Femi, D'banj, 2face, P-Square, and Wizkid. Versace1608 (Talk) 21:21, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
I agree with you. Darreg (talk) 21:39, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
Lol I saw what you deleted. Wizkid has won a BET Award. He won the BET Awards 2012 with Sarkodie. MTV Africa Awards took a 4 year hiatus and wasn't around when Wizkid was hot. I am pretty sure Wizkid will win one next year if the awards take place. This year and most of last year belonged to Davido. Everyone has their time. Versace1608 (Talk) 21:57, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
After commenting I went to read his Misplaced Pages article then discovered he had won it in the past. I guess I should always verify things first and not the other way round. lol Darreg (talk) 22:09, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
sorry to say this, wikipedia is not a forum for social discussions. (Wikicology (talk) 18:23, 29 July 2014 (UTC))

Super story

Hi Dare, this is to inform you that the title of the article you recently created is incorrect . The title is actually “SuperStory”. Check a reliable published sources for verification. I suggest you move the page to “SuperStory”. Thanks (Wikicology (talk) 18:23, 29 July 2014 (UTC))

@Darreg: what is your opinion about my suggestion above? Wikicology (talk) 20:20, 30 July 2014 (UTC)
@Wikicology:Here is a breakdown on how it is spelt by the most notable citations in the article. Punch spells it as "Superstory", Vanguard spells it as "Super story", AllAfrica spells it as "Super Story". Personally I feel any of these 3 is suitable for it but consensus can alter it's present spelling though.
Update: I just visited the official website of Wale Adenuga Productions and it's spelt as "Super Story" so I think, the format of AllAfrica should be the most appropriate and correct way to spell it. My username is NOT "Dare", please do NOT refer to me as "Dare" anymore. Darreg (talk) 11:55, 31 July 2014 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of For the Best and for the Onion

Hello, Darreg. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, For the Best and for the Onion, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Vanjagenije (talk) 22:43, 30 July 2014 (UTC)

Nomination of For the Best and for the Onion for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article For the Best and for the Onion is suitable for inclusion in Misplaced Pages according to Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/For the Best and for the Onion until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. United States Man (talk) 02:41, 31 July 2014 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Aize Obayan

The article Aize Obayan has been proposed for deletion. The proposed deletion notice added to the article should explain why.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Information icon Please remember to assume good faith when dealing with other editors, which you did not do on Aize Obayan. Proposing an article for deletion is NOT vandalism. ukexpat (talk) 17:11, 31 July 2014 (UTC)

@Ukexpat: Proposing an article for deletion without stating any reason for the edit in either an edit summary or on the author's talk page is regarded as disruptive editing. I have nothing against articles being nominated for deletion but it is very important to state the reason why you feel it should be deleted. Darreg (talk) 17:20, 31 July 2014 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Aize Obayan

Unencyclopedic content, written like an advertisement with WP:COI connected with its original creator

While all constructive contributions to Misplaced Pages are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
