Solow has filed over 200 suits against competitors, business associates and at times even friends. Sheldon Solow is an American real estate mogul.

Early life

Solow was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1929 to a Jewish family. After high school he attended New York University but dropped out.

Personal life

Solow is married, has two children (named his son Stefan as his “heir apparent”) and lives in New York City. According to Forbes, as of June 2013 his estimated wealth is US$3.7 billion.

Solow founded the Manhattan-based a non-profit organization called "Sheldon H Solow Foundation Inc" Solow is considered by many a big art collector: Some of the works he owns are placed on display at 9 West 57th Street, and his collection includes paintings by Francis Bacon, Matisse, Balthus. He is reported to have a collection on sculptures by Henry Moore, Giacometti and Van Gogh. In the year 2007, he donated two whole floors of a New York City townhouse to the New York University Institute of Fine Arts. Solow has interests in Jewish welfare - he has donated many to Jewish charities and received the "Israel Peace Medal.
