:I have no further intentions of renaming "all categories of Ottoman-areas". I will only rename few Central or Southeastern European country categories into new name version, which would be "Ottoman period in the history of (country)". I will not touch either Greek-related articles/categories either articles/categories about Mediterranean countries. And you proved nothing in your post - the fact that you read some names in some sources does not mean that you understand meaning of these names. Or can you explain meaning of term "Ottoman Serbia"? Can you explain to which territory (with which borders) and to which time period term "Ottoman Serbia" would refer? No, you cannot - it is fictional term that you imposing into Misplaced Pages. The second problem is your propensity to aggressive revert-warring. Regardinr articles ] and ] it is irrelevant what kind of involvement you had there - the important thing is that you appeared there just '''after''' I edited these articles (no matter of "whose side you would support"). You have very few edits in the last month and you obviously came to these pages by tracking of my edits. ] 08:14, 2 May 2012 (UTC) |

Aristarchus
Oh, no problem.;-> There were only three of them, and all of them sufficiently serious to deserve an answer.
My position on the matter is not intransigent; if I were the only interested editor, what would happen is that Aristarchus would remain the dab page, because of the majority modern usage - but only until Aristarchus of Samothrace becomes a proper article, and the ones that should link to it are written. This will be a while, and I may have to do it myself.
"Correctness" is, according to policy, not the way to settle these questions. See Misplaced Pages:Use English and Misplaced Pages:Naming conventions for more; although several editors regularly ignore them. (You will find several other useful links on my user page; feel free to copy them - or not.) Septentrionalis 15:31, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

Vectorized images
Due to a crash of my HD image epir1.cdr was lost. But I have three CDR images refered to Epir (1235-1251, 1252-1315 and 1315-1358). If you has interest in this images I can send you to your e-mail adress the original cdr files that you can edit freely. They are made in CORELL 11 version. Please contact me. 88.12.146.224 10:57, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
- You can see the images in png at http://ca.wikipedia.org/Despotat_de_l'Epir. I believe that historical maps don't need translation because it can be easely understables for all the world. In catalan vikipedia we use sometimes historical maps on english, spanish, italian, french, etc..., only the cyrillic alphabets or others as grec, sinhala etc... offer dificulties. In fact I'm unable to made the maps on correct english because I'm only catalan speaking, and I know only french and spanish (I know only a few words of english, portuguese and italian). I made some historical maps in english (i.e. see urartu) but I'm afraid that they are plenty of mistakes (in language).

I believe that you should have another look at your assessment of stub class for this article. My opinion is that a start class is more fair to its authors (I only put 4-6 letters, so I cannot be counted among them).--FocalPoint 15:28, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
- The stub tag goes with the no sources added to the article which is a real problem on wikipedia. If references are added to go with the article or sources of the original material is given then start- or maybe B-class can be given. Lincher 15:31, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

Re: Help needed
OK, here's the story. The person you mention probably had a good SQL script that ceased to work because MediaWiki database schema was changed. Of course, I could take a look at the script, find out what's wrong, etc., but I'm only moderately familiar with the schema in question, and I don't have a toolserver account (which is - as I gather - necessary to run SQL scripts against the database). However, there is a simple(r) solution: I've taken a look around and found a page dedicated exactly to this: http://meta.wikimedia.org/Requests_for_queries. If you take a look there, you'll find a request virtually identical to yours, and it seems that the SQL solution is here. So, there are already queries that do the job, you'll just have to inquire at the Requests for queries page and ask for somebody to run the script against the Greek wiki and copy the result to the location of your choosing. Hope this helps... GregorB 18:41, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
- Well, after the closure of Wikisign, I had problems with establishment of SQL scripts on my PC, so I haven't done any from that time on. Sorry. Regards, --Klemen Kocjancic 10:51, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

Image source problem with Image:Achaia FCA.jpg
This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:Achaia FCA.jpg. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Misplaced Pages:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Misplaced Pages:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 11:16, 7 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. Villehardouin
I do, but I've just moved so I don't have access to my books or my own computer :) I have the edition by Juliam Eugene White, but there is an older one by Jean Alexandre Buchon on Google Books. Note that our article on Buchon (via Britannica) says "None of his publications can be described as thoroughly scholarly", and this one has the annoying habit of translating random Old French words into modern French in brackets. I'll try to get to White's edition as soon as I can. Adam Bishop 00:37, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, I have books and Internet! White's edition is based on one manuscript but he says he used Edmond Faral's "definitive edition" (I do not know whether this edition is still the definitive critical one). It's not exactly the same as Buchon but the differences are no greater than expected from variant Old French manuscripts (i.e. all the orthography is different!). Indo-Greek kingdom
Hi FocalPoint! Thank you for your vote on the Indo-Greek FARC! My understanding is that the subject of the presence of the Indo-Greeks in India, even if more than 2000 years old, still hurts some national sensitivities. Some users such as User:Devanampriya, who actually initiated this FARC through a request to an Indian administrator, have been very aggresive with any claims of Greek influence in India, and very aggressive with other users in the process. This combines with the fact that many things are indeed uncertain about the Indo-Greeks, hence the request by a few initially uninvolved users to have more references etc... to which I complied (rather intensely) during the last few weeks. In the process, I think the article has become even better than before, more balanced, and much much more referenced. In any case, I believe this is a fascinating subject, and that this Misplaced Pages article offers one of the best summary available anywhere on the Indo-Greeks. Thank you for your support! Garni Inscription
Dear Focal Point. Thanks a lot for your interest in the discussion. I have to caution you though that all my remarks constitute OR and they cannot therefore be used in any article. My transliteration and my translation are most certainly flawed since they are based on a rather sketchy copy. I will keep on looking for an authoritative publication of the inscription which may be properly used in wikipedia and post every bit of information to the relevant discussion pages. I am very happy to see that you are interested and I look forward to any feedback. Thanks again!--Giorgos Tzimas (talk) 08:53, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
Re: Interwikis in Greek Βικιπαίδεια
Anything to help! :-) I got the full list (I think there were 9,000 hits) but am having a little trouble at splitting it... I was going to create a list for every starting letter, but I think there would be like 30 or 40 lists, some small and some long. I am trying to overcome my almost complete ignorance of Greek, though :-) -- ReyBrujo (talk) 22:15, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
Greek Misplaced Pages Interwiki project
Hi!
I noticed that you have a serious project to improve interwiki links in the Greek Misplaced Pages.
In the Hebrew Misplaced Pages we have such a project, and it has been pretty successful. I was looking for such projects in other Wikipedias, but found nothing. I started setting up similar projects in Wikipedias in Russian and Esperanto (i know these languages), and then i stumbled upon your project in the Greek Misplaced Pages. (I found a link to it at Misplaced Pages talk:Special:WithoutInterwiki.)
Unfortunately i don't know Greek, but i would like to know what is your way of working.
You can find a description of our way of working here: Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Interlanguage Links/Ideas from the Hebrew Misplaced Pages. I'll be glad to share our experiences!
One last thing: I added an interwiki link to your project from Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Interlanguage Links. This project in the English Misplaced Pages appears inactive (i am trying to revive it), but a link to your project may facilitate the communication between our projects. --Amir E. January 2009
Please stop assuming ownership of articles such as Wood wool. Doing so may lead to disruptive behavior such as edit wars and is a violation of policy, which may lead to a block from editing. If you really want to move or split content, you need a discussion and consensus. You tried that, and got no support. Give us your ownership of "wood wool" and work on improving the article on this topic at excelsior (wood wool). Dicklyon (talk) 18:07, 24 January 2009 (UTC)
FP, if you really want the article to move to wood wool, here's the procedure: use the "move" link to attempt to move it; it will fail, but will give you a link to the instructions for how to ask for a contested move; follow the instructions, starting a discussion section for it and registering it on the appropriate page, to attract a few people to comment; if there's a consensus to move it, an admin will then do so, making the existing one a redirect to the other. Dicklyon (talk) 16:19, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
This is the last warning you will receive for your disruptive edits, such as those you made to wood wool. If you vandalize Misplaced Pages again, you will be blocked from editing. If instead of following the procedure described above, you insist on recreating your inappropriate content fork again as a way to circumvent the normal contested move process, I will request than an admin block you for persistent disruption of wikipedia. Dicklyon (talk) 16:21, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
Thank you for your suggestion. You have made it in the past as well and I chose another path: To suggest a merger of the two articles; a proposal which is under discussion now. I find it difficult to understand why a different course of action from the one you are suggesting makes you think it is disruptive and you call this vandalism. I really find this sad. You are welcome to call any administrator to take a look at my actions and your actions of course. --FocalPoint (talk) 17:57, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

- http://en.wikipedia.org/search/?title=Excelsior_(wood_wool)&diff=next&oldid=266128674 (claiming finishing the merging without an actual merge taking place, just copying content from the article wood wool)
I suppose that we have a better picture here. --FocalPoint (talk) 18:35, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
- Proposing a merger to new name to justify your inappropriate split is just a ruse. So stop it. I already merged all your new content into the orignal article when you proposed a merge, since you wouldn't put it there yourself. What you're seeking is simply called a move. Misplaced Pages:Requests for arbitration/PHG
The above-linked Arbitration case has been closed and the final decision published.
PHG's mentorship and sourcing arrangement is both revised and extended; the full list of new conditions are available by clicking this link. Furthermore, the original topic ban on editing articles related to medieval or ancient history has been rescinded. PHG is prohibited from editing articles relating to the Mongol Empire, the Crusades, intersections between Crusader states and the Mongol Empire, and Hellenistic India—all broadly defined. This topic ban will last for a period of one year. He is permitted to make suggestions on talk pages, provided that he interacts with other editors in a civil fashion.
Any particular article may be added or removed from PHG's editing restriction at the discretion of his mentor; publicly logged to prevent confusion of the restriction's coverage. The mentor is encouraged to be responsive to feedback from editors in making and reconsidering such actions. Furthermore, the Committee noted that PHG has complied with the Committee's restrictions over the past ten months, and that PHG is encouraged to continue contributing to Misplaced Pages and Wikimedia projects. PHG should be permitted and encouraged by other editors to write well-sourced suggestions on talkpages, to contribute free-content images to Wikimedia Commons, and to build trust with the community.
For the Arbitration Committee,

Richard Church
Well done on all your work on the articles about my compatriot Richard Church on the English and Greek Wikipedias. You obviously have a great interest in the man, as do I.--Damac (talk) 21:27, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
Hellenic State
I've rewritten it a bit, and removed the reference to the Septinsular Republic as I am not sure whether Kapodistrias was indeed inspired by this. If you know that for a fact, feel free to re-add it. Constantine ✍ 12:02, 9 January 2011 (UTC)

Planudes
Hi FocalPoint, thanks, but what should I see on that page? (I can only see part of their article about Planudes.) Adam Bishop (talk) 11:43, 11 September 2011 (UTC)

Hi. When you recently edited Greek identity card, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page State Council (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

History of Ottoman Serbia and other countries
I do not see why you reverted my name change. There was no such thing as "Ottoman Serbia", "Ottoman Croatia", "Ottoman Bulgaria", etc. Ottoman Empire was divided into provinces that mostly were named after their capital cities and by usage of titles "Ottoman (add name of a country here)" we sending inaccurate message to the readers that some vassal Ottoman countries with these names existed. Title "History of Serbia during Ottoman administration" refers to "territory of present-day Serbia" in the time when it was governed by the Ottoman Empire. PANONIAN 16:13, 30 March 2012 (UTC)

Please stop
With your reverts of my edits in naming of Ottoman histories of modern Central European countries. Why you doing this? There were no such territories as "Ottoman Serbia", "Ottoman Hungary", etc. I did not had time to discuss this issue further on talk page of Serbia-related article, but you now moving Misplaced Pages to heavy POV. PANONIAN 17:57, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
- also please stop with Wiki stalking of my edits. It is not coincidence that you appear in same articles that I edit. PANONIAN 18:16, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
- Regarding the issue of naming of articles about Ottoman history of countries, you can have what ever name you want in Greek article (I will not touch any more either that one or other ones about non-Central European countries). However, please do not rename articles about Central European countries only to make case about name of Greek article stronger. Also, please do not move a single article out of category simply because you do not agree with name of category - you moved article Silistra Eyalet to category "Ottoman Bulgaria", but you left all other Bulgaria-related articles within category "History of Bulgaria during Ottoman administration" - you should either move all articles from the category either none of them. This what you done is a disruption of categorization. PANONIAN 18:35, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
Stalking
well, can you then explain how you appeared on pages Serbia (Territory of the German Military Commander) and Ottoman period in the history of Hungary just after my own edits? PANONIAN 19:10, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
- I have no further intentions of renaming "all categories of Ottoman-areas". Regardinr articles Serbia (Territory of the German Military Commander) and Ottoman period in the history of Hungary it is irrelevant what kind of involvement you had there - the important thing is that you appeared there just after I edited these articles (no matter of "whose side you would support"). You have very few edits in the last month and you obviously came to these pages by tracking of my edits. PANONIAN 08:14, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
