WikiProject Ice Hockey March 2008 Newsletter

edit WikiProject Ice Hockey Newsletter

Dear Yankees76! You are receiving as you are a member of WikiProject Ice Hockey There's been many more new things going on at WP:HOCKEY; this newsletter will be sent every two weeks/months.

If you wish to not receive the newsletter, please remove your name from the newsletter mailing list. Thanks!

edit New recognized content

By The Pancake of Heaven!
There has been numerous new recognized content, so much that it's too time-consuming to sift through the "trophy cases" on WP:HOCKEY. Some interesting achievements:

edit Task forces

By The Pancake of Heaven!

We are working to create a new task force within the WikiProject to deal with topics related to the Pittsburgh Penguins. It hasn't been created yet; but it aims to expand articles based on former and current Pittsburgh Penguins players and articles. Good luck!

edit Featured Topic Drive

By Maxim

The original featured topic drive, initiated by Scorpion0422, has concluded succesfully. National Hockey League awards is now a featured topic, with 24 articles in total. Of them, 20 are featured lists, one is a featured article, and the other three are trophy articles that were too short to become featured lists. Eight users signed up to help out, shown here. The next Featured Topic hasn't been decided upon, and the ideas and organization for it fell apart. If you have any ideas, don't hesitate to share them at WT:HOCKEY.

edit Notes
  • More editors are needed to help out with the newsletter. The newsletter creator doesn't have an infinite nor perfect supply of ideas, and thus he might omit some interesting news.
  • Portal:Ice hockey is being considered for featured status.
  • Should Chris Pronger have been suspended for more than eight games for stomping on Ryan Kesler? Vote here!
  • Help Patrik Stefan -- one of the greatest NHL draft busts -- become a GA status article.

News from the diamond
From the Editors

Baseball has a history unlike any other sport. It has been played in countless countries throughout the decades, and it will undoubtedly continue play for many more. On this eve, some the finest players the sport has to offer will take the field at the Yankee Stadium. Four popes spoke there, Pelé scored goals there, "The Greatest Game Ever Played" was battled out there, John Philip Sousa lead a band there, George Costanza worked there; but what do all these events have in common? They fail to reach the level of greatness that the baseball that was played there did.

In 1923, a man named Babe Ruth decided to build a new house, and over the years, that house was a home to some of the greatest baseball ever played. If I were to list out all of these great moments, it would be longer than the bill for the New Yankee Stadium. So I'll sum it up by saying that we can remember these great moments by adding them to this place we've gathered at for future generations to read about, to learn about, to dream about; but more importantly we can watch tonight and we can remember how baseball is unlike anything else that we will encounter in our lives. — Blackngold29

Bad choice there

You either add sources or remove the unverifiable sentences. Removing the concerns tags hurts Misplaced Pages, as it's clearly being used as an advertisement vehicle. --Damiens.rf 06:28, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

Or you could have read the references at the bottom (under references) and noticed that the article is simply missing in-line citations - much of the material that you've put and tags is derived from those references. I'm reverting your edit. Take it to the articles talk page. --Yankees76 (talk) 18:27, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

Apology from Jeffrey Pierce Henderson

Jeffrey Pierce Henderson I've created this spot on my talk page just for you to apologize for your uncivil comments directed my way here and here . While I admit, I haven't been the recipient of some of your best work in the insults department (unlike Genisock2, Ohnoitsjamie‎, and WLU), this is still a good place to start your new life as a model citizen on Misplaced Pages. Please aplogize below. Thanks in advance! --Yankees76 (talk) 20:29, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

Wow. I feel honored. I was just looking around a little. Trying to find any clues to support my cabal theory and saw this section. I came over from Quartet's page because I wanted to see what a Barnstar was. I will have to admit that I probably do owe a lengthy apology, but will have to return to my talk page, gather some information, and come back for a proper presentation.
