FC Barcelona (also known as Barça, SAMPA ) is an athletic club in Barcelona, Catalunya, Spain. The club has sections in several sports. Its basketball section produced current NBA star Pau Gasol, and won the 2003 Euroleague. It also has an American football section, the FC Barcelona Dragons, that competes in NFL Europe.
However, its most famous section by far is its football (US soccer) section, which competes in the first division of the Spanish Football League. The rest of this article focuses exclusively on the football section.
Founded in 1899 by Joan Gamper, Barça is based in Barcelona, Catalunya, and its home stadium is the Camp Nou, capacity 115,000 seats.
Europe champion: 1992. Spanish league champion: 1929, 1945, 1948, 1949, 1952, 1953, 1959, 1960, 1974, 1985, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1998, 1999.
