I disagree with the edit summary that I'm the only one removing it, as the previous discussion above explicitly states that it's been removed before, one person agreed with that decision and I have shown by my actions that I concur. But all that aside, I contend that the only people who might possibly be listed are those who are notable for actually BEING a Gemini, rather than notable people who happen to be Gemini. Anything less renders their inclusion as nothing more than trivia. Given that every real, notable person has an astrological sign, a list is either highly subjective or bound to grow to immense proportions that overshadow the true subject of the article. ] (]) 02:04, 9 January 2008 (UTC) I disagree with the edit summary that I'm the only one removing it, as the previous discussion above explicitly states that it's been removed before, one person agreed with that decision and I have shown by my actions that I concur. :I agree. 1/12 of humanity belongs to each sign - we have over 100,000 notable people listed in this encyclopedia, which could mean that at least 8,000 notables were born under any one sign. That's too many to even include in a category, much less a list. ]] ] 02:30, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

Merge?

All of this is on the Gemini page, in the Astrology section. Does it merit a separate article? rianaC 03:16, 22 June 2006 (UTC)

End Dates

Gemini's end date was changed from June 20th to June 21st, I have friends that were born on June 21st that are considered Geminis, accept the facts and move on with life....

First off, I'll bite. A, I edited this, since it was in all caps lock, and B, do not start arguements. Just simply let an Admins know or simply defend yourself properly here. Interesting Fact: Nicole Kidman's a Gemmy (June 21st) ;) Thank you kindly.
--LuvLuv G2000 23:56, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

Actually, Kidman was born June 20st. That's today and I'm seeing it at imdb... --80.60.212.248 22:50, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

I was born on June 21st and I've always considered myself a Gemini. I think the end date is the 21st of June--StrausserSkate 07:48, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

Notable People

I think the "notable people born under the sign" section should be split up between western and sidereal astrologies. I say this because someone put Johnny Depp as a Taurus, meanwhile his birthday is June 9, which since I go by western dates, I consider him a Gemini...--Tainted Drifter 06:46, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

In case you're wondering what's happened to the Notable persons section, it has been deleted in favor of the page Category:Subjects of the Sign of Gemini. If you want to add a notable person go there. --Carmelita 21:03, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

(I'm gonna cross-post this): there is absolutely no need to have a "notable persons" section. What about cuspers (people born between two signs), what would they be? If they went under both that'd take up more space. You can't list EVERY single person ever born under one sign. If you want to know what a famous person's zodiac sign or birthday is, just look up their separate article on Misplaced Pages. If they are famous, they should be on Misplaced Pages. So yeah, I'm taking out the notable persons section and I'm warning people not to readd it.

Also, I don't think it should say "this sign is compatible with ____, ____, and ___" because that's like bending NPOV. 75.27.185.204 03:06, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

Just as a comment on the above, I don't see how you can't figure out what sign a cusper would have. Everyone's born on a different date and therefore would take up the sign of the date they were born on. For instance, someone born on the cusp of Gemini-Cancer, June 20th, is still a Gemini. Likewise, if they're born on June 21st, they're still a Cancer. Easy enough? Spumonianderson 04:57, 27 March 2007 (PST)

Just to throw in my two cents: As a person who's studied Astrology to a high degree since the second grade, there is a general consensus amongst professional astrologers that cusps between signs do not exist. There is an exact degree, minute, and second at which a planet, luminary, asteroid, or angle transits from one sign to the next. Cusps are used solely in reference to the House system. Thus, a person's Sun sign is never said to "be on the cusp of Taurus and Gemini". Their Sun placement, however, may be on the cusp of the Seventh and Eighth Houses. Additionally, regarding the "fixed" dates of the beginning and ending of the Sun's yearly transit through each sign: they don't exist. Generally, the Sun will transit from one sign to the next between the nineteenth and the twenty-third of each month, but the precise date, hour, and minute vary from year to year due to slight eccentricities in the Earth's orbit. The date of the twenty-first is just an average of the mean and median of the date at which most Solar transits occur. SumeragiNoOnmyouji 09:20, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

A Note on Gemini in Hindu Astrology

In India, Gemini is called Mithuna ("the pair" or "the couple"), and it's seen not as a pair of twins but as a man and a woman in a sexual embrace.

An interesting idea. Tom129.93.17.139 18:27, 1 July 2007 (UTC)
