History

The Canning Bridge railway station is currently under construction, as part of the New MetroRail Southern Suburbs Railway project. The lower concourse of the Canning Bridge bus station is being converted into train platforms.

To make room for the rail corridor, the 120 metre long, 1800 tonne Canning Highway bus bridge was moved 9.5 metres southwest by using Teflon mats and pulling the bridge sideways. This was a more economical alternative to constructing a completely new bridge. The move did not disrupt ongoing traffic on the Kwinana Freeway.

As the Canning Bridge station is integrated into the Canning Bridge bus station, there will be buses provided.

Bus routes

Bus transfers will be available at Canning Bridge Train Station.
