| I'm writing to you to extend an olive branch. I probably don't need to tell you, but Misplaced Pages exists as non-profit so that the people, the community, can exchange information in attempt to bypass corporate control and interest in news and what is happening, and has happened. I am, indeed, proud of my contributions, but I include my name in the file names because I like to see who else is using my images, and how. For instance, mirror sites won't include, often, the licensing information but will include the file name, which is simply ripped off of the Misplaced Pages article. When people download the images for their own websites, they often keep the file name. | |||
| You may not know this, but your friend in Snohomish, Washington, has vandalized Misplaced Pages pages since January, has been blocked six times for such behavior, and just tonight was banned from Misplaced Pages for 8 months after an Arbitration Committee review of their behavior (the highest review available on Misplaced Pages). They have picked fights, removed vast amounts of information others have contributed, and insulted numerous editors. Since March--MARCH--they have focused almost solely on me; why, I do not know. Most people grow bored following a person and trying to bother them, but your friend has never wearied. You can see a VERY lengthy history (that excludes much of their recent behavior) on Misplaced Pages here: http://en.wikipedia.org/User:DavidShankBone/IndefiniteBanForIP. You can see that that your friend is now banned for EIGHT MONTHS. You can see on my high-level admins discussing how odd and improper your friends SIX MONTHS of vandalizing and trolling on Misplaced Pages has been. I will never understand the joy that your friend gets in hurting a website meant to allow people to not be corporate spoon-fed information, and I no longer care. I also will never understand their obsession with me. | |||
