Also, I wanted to ask you if youre not too busy, if you could take a quick look at the ] Featured pic candidate and give your two cents. It got 4 supports and 1 oppose on the first day as a FPC, but hasnt gotten input since. I think it has been buried by the flurry of other FPCs coming in lol. I think this picture has high EV and I have found no comparable bridge pictures of any quality on this site that depict what is in this photograph, so I think it is important to the project and will be worth your time.
I happened to pop by your website, Micro2marco, and had one minor comment. For the top header, where it says "Photography is a form of hunting where that which is shot, lives forever." I haven't really shot that many insects. I've been currently concentrating on ] since Autumn is the best time of year for that and the weather makes birds and insects more difficult. It is too late in the year to easily get damsel and dragonflies. I've taken a few however with different lighting methods:

*Thanks for the compliment. I think the apis portrait was a tad soft because I had to boost the brightness a bit (and consequently noise, so I did a noise reduction), the teleconverter would also cause a little softness. Depth of field is very small too. I'd guess that the magnification was over 2:1 though, and I was still a good 150-200mm away. I think you could quite possibly even get away with two sets of tubes rather than a teleconverter. There is a picture of the cardboard and tracing paper softbox . ] (]) 08:17, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

I don't usually watch this show, it was just sheer chance it came on after another doco I was looking at and that was the first story, but for the record it is a serious current affairs program and not just the sensationalist rubbish that most of them are these days in Western countries. So it did comment on the 'positive' aspects that you mention as well and how outraged most Tanzanians are by the practise. ::Yeah, that is an ironic truth in most places I guess - people don't appreciate how good they've got things. Here, where even the poor people are pretty rich on a global scale, private schools are ''in general'' considered the source of most high achievers, with too many of the poorer people not caring that much as they can still be relatively comfortable or at least survive OK even without taking advantage of a good education (with many notable exceptions of course). I am PragmaticStatistic, and I have a free educational web site, MyReadingMapped.blogspot.com, that contains over 150 Google Maps of historic and scienific events, many of which are listed on Misplaced Pages as external links; for example my Google Map of the Topography of Plate Tectonics that appears at the bottom of the Misplaced Pages Plate Tectonics page https://en.wikipedia.org/Plate_tectonics. I am currently working on a Google Map of Farming or Agriculture and would like to use your photo of the Masaai herdsman grazing his cattle inside the Ngorongoro crater https://commons.wikimedia.org/File:Masaai_with_cattle.jpg as an example of farming in far off and extreme places. If you happen to have a variation of the photo that is not so horizontal would make it bigger in Google Map. You can see my progress so far on this map at https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=zlY48eTMIq2I.kqPznatwTwTo. What this map map will do is put a location to photos that are examples of various types of farming around the world. Thanks for the info. I haven't spent the time to ID it because of looming exams. It is cold and windy here so the remaining insects stay fairly still. If they are more mobile I use a softbox on a home made bracket. At full power the umbrella will work fine from about 1-1.5 meters away at f8-11, iso 400. The light isn't as soft at longer distances, but is quite useful for chasing around ants or feeding bees. So depending on the situation I will either throw the umbrella on a light stand and hand hold or put the camera on a tripod and handhold the umbrella. I find the tripod useful for stabilisation at higher magnifications (1.9x with tubes, ~2.5 with teleconverter as well). The best method, if possible, is to get someone to hold the umbrella for you. ] is an example of this. I use this method for fungi in particular, it avoids having to carry a light stand for hours in the bush.

As you rightfully mention, there is one unpopular belief that evolution took place with the rest of the organisms but man was created. The Qur'an mentions in numerous verses that God created man from clay. With reference to the biochemical synthesis via the ], the Qur'an may be referring to the origin of man or other species. The idea that all genetic mutations are harmful (he gives the example of a fly exposed to radiation, which is a very different and extreme cause of mutations, usually only slight mutations occur in nature) and that racists and nazis were associated with Darwinism so therefore Darwinism is evil is very silly and misleading. It seems NS may have read it more thoroughly but I found quite a bit of propaganda and incorrect assumptions about how evolution is purported to work.

Many other animals of the same species would also experience different mutations at the same time and all of the mutations would combine over time. Imagine a simple organism with a a life cycle of a year. Imagine that there is a stable total of one billion of them on the planet (not unreasonable). 100 million years of evolution would give 100 million generations, and therefore a '''huge''' number of organisms produced (100 million generations multiplied by 1 billion organisms per generation). If only a fraction of these experienced mutations in the genes of the parents, and each successive generation had the ability to build on the positive mutations and spread them throughout the population, then it looks a lot less like randomly constructing masterful literature and more like building a house brick by brick. Many houses would of course crumble because they were built on poor foundations (the equivalent of a genetic dead-end), but there would be a vast number of houses being built simultaneously. Over time the design of successful houses would be adopted by other builders (The equivalence of the ability of an organism to breed with other favourably mutated animals) and all the best elements of the house would become standard on all the houses although new designs would continually be built. Anyway, this might not be a perfect analogy but IMO it fits the way evolutionary theory is described better than a single literary masterpiece constructed from scratch as if all the letters had to exist in a specific order to render the final product complete. In evolutionary theory, no animal is ever complete or a masterpiece. Hi Muhammad! First off, great job on the work you are doing! You have an incredible eye for detail.

Also, I wanted to ask you if youre not too busy, if you could take a quick look at the Misplaced Pages:Featured picture candidates/Monroe Street Bridge Featured pic candidate and give your two cents. It got 4 supports and 1 oppose on the first day as a FPC, but hasnt gotten input since. I think it has been buried by the flurry of other FPCs coming in lol. I think this picture has high EV and I have found no comparable bridge pictures of any quality on this site that depict what is in this photograph, so I think it is important to the project and will be worth your time.

The shrine of Fatima Masuma is located in Qom which is considered by Shia Muslims to be the second most sacred city in Iran after Mashhad. Fatima Masuma was the sister of the eighth Imam 'Ali al-Rida and the daughter of the seventh Imam Musa al-Kadhim. Among the shias, she is honored as a saint, and her shrine in Qom is considered one of the most significant shrines in Iran. The dome shown in the picture lies immediately above her burial chamber which also includes her 3 nieces

Would like to use photo in a Google Map of Farming.

I am PragmaticStatistic, and I have a free educational web site, MyReadingMapped.blogspot.com, that contains over 150 Google Maps of historic and scienific events, many of which are listed on Misplaced Pages as external links; for example my Google Map of the Topography of Plate Tectonics that appears at the bottom of the Misplaced Pages Plate Tectonics page https://en.wikipedia.org/Plate_tectonics. I am currently working on a Google Map of Farming or Agriculture and would like to use your photo of the Masaai herdsman grazing his cattle inside the Ngorongoro crater https://commons.wikimedia.org/File:Masaai_with_cattle.jpg as an example of farming in far off and extreme places. If you happen to have a variation of the photo that is not so horizontal would make it bigger in Google Map. You can see my progress so far on this map at https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=zlY48eTMIq2I.kqPznatwTwTo. What this map map will do is put a location to photos that are examples of various types of farming around the world. If would be similar to my Google Map of Geology http://myreadingmapped.blogspot.com/2014/07/google-map-of-geology.html.

In order to determine the location within the crater I found a Panoramio cattle photo in the Ngorongoro crater at coordinates 3° 11' 30.35" S 35° 30' 12.68" E at http://www.panoramio.com/photo/73326897. Is that coordinate close enough to the location of your photo? You can reach me via my contact page on my web site.

If you have any other such photos I would love to use them as well.

I would think it is a Culex quinquefasciatus, but would have to see other sides to be sure. Could you have the name changed, maybe to Culicine mosquito Dar or something like that? I know User:Mydreamsparrow (Augustus Binu), a fellow photographer from my college days in India. We were studying and living in the same college and I introduced him to Misplaced Pages, showing him how to edit articles, create user pages and particularly introduced him to contribute to Misplaced Pages:Featured Pictures as a way of improving his photography since it had done so to me. During this time, we even took a picture of the Vidhana Soudha together and I have labelled it as such on Wiki since 2012. w:File:Vidhana_Soudha_2012.jpg. Additionally, a simple check of the EXIF data of the pictures taken by Mydreamsparrow and me will show the differences in Camera used. I am not aware who the other users linked in the accusation are or if they have any relation with Mydreamsparrow. If ip logs can assist to prove my innocence, you may see that since 2015, most of my edits will have been from Tanzania where I am now based. I'm not sure about Misplaced Pages's procedure for blocking accused sockpuppets but it would have been good to at least have a chance to defend myself before getting blocked and my userpage getting blanked, having been a valuable contributing member for so many years. Should the deer genus Rusa be classified under Cervus

Pseudatelus

Pseudatelus is a genus of shield bugs of the family Pentatomidae. They range from 14 to 20 millimetres (0.55 to 0.79 in), depending on the species, and have a typical shield-shaped body. They are usually brown or dark brown in colour, with a triangular-shaped scutellum. This Pseudatelus shield bug was photographed in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Green terror

The green terror (Andinoacara rivulatus) is a colorful species of freshwater fish in the cichlid family, Cichlidae. The fish originates from the Pacific side of South America from the Tumbes River in Peru to the Esmeraldas River in Ecuador. It is polymorphic and can have white or gold-orange edging to the tail and dorsal fins. As its name implies, late juvenile-phase and adult-phase specimens can be very aggressive. This green terror was photographed at Karlsruhe Zoo in Germany.
