Information icon Hello, I'm Codename AD. I noticed that you recently removed content from American Society of Anesthesiologists without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Misplaced Pages with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Conflict of Interest

If you have an affiliation with the American Society of Anesthesiologists, you need to disclose it and stop editing the page per WP:COI. Thenightaway (talk) 15:01, 27 December 2024 (UTC)

You have a bias towards anesthesiologists and need to stop editing the page per WP:COI. 2601:243:1600:98E0:15C2:CA28:AEFD:78F (talk) 15:17, 27 December 2024 (UTC)

You have been blocked from editing from certain pages (American Society of Anesthesiologists) for a period of 1 week for edit warring. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Misplaced Pages's guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Primefac (talk) 15:38, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

If you review my edits, you will see that I only ever posted facts about ASA. My wikipedia name is my initials, "ASA" and the street address for the ASA building. I was not hiding behind a made up name, like thenightaway, who clearly has a bias against anesthesiologists and posted cherry-picked and misleading articles. You should investigate why they started posting the week that insurance executive was killed. And thenightaway and DACartman should both be clear if they are being paid by insurance or other companies to post on their behalf.

Decline reason:

To ensure that it's actually you making the request, an unblock request will only be considered if made while logged in. You will also need to focus on your own conduct rather than that of others. See WP:NOTTHEM. Sir Sputnik (talk) 20:16, 29 December 2024 (UTC)

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

Thenightaway continues to post misleading and inaccurate information. I was simply removing it.

Decline reason:

Clear and obvious edit warring. --jpgordon 16:07, 27 December 2024 (UTC)

Managing a conflict of interest

Information icon Hello, Gsasa1061. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Misplaced Pages, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Misplaced Pages:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 17:43, 27 December 2024 (UTC)

I'm new to Misplaced Pages and my responsibility is to keep the ASA page accurate and up to date. Thenightaway was posting misleading and inaccurate information that misrepresented the society and its members. You can see that I don't post anything but facts about ASA. Thenightaway has a bias against anesthesiologists. If they want to post negative information about ASA, they can do so elsewhere, but I recommend you police their content to make sure they present both sides of any topic they share. Gsasa1061 (talk) 20:20, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
The "misleading" information was backed up by reliable sources and helped keep the article neutral. DACartman (talk) 20:54, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
It was not neutral and thenightaway was clearly posting (based on their previous editing work) on a subject about which they were unfamiliar and biased (likely based on the current news cycle around the death of the healthcare CEO). By only posting negative stories about anesthesiologists, thenightaway exposed their prejudice and presented a biased and unbalanced portrayal of the profession. Gsasa1061 (talk) 21:03, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
You have yet to address the issue of conflict of interest. Your comment that " my responsibility is to keep the ASA page accurate and up to date" strongly suggests that have an sort of relationship with the ASA, and are editing on their behalf. Conflicts of interest by policy must be declared. Please read the guidelines above as presented by user ScottishFinnishRadish, and move forward accordingly. cheers. anastrophe, an editor he is. 21:54, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
Hi. Where does one declare that they work for the company that has the page? 2601:243:1600:98E0:15C2:CA28:AEFD:78F (talk) 22:53, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
Creating a new account to do the same thing you were just blocked for has gotten you blocked indefinitely. Probably not the best strategy. --jpgordon 22:16, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
What am I supposed to do when you're allowing misleading content on a page by a different person who most likely was the original person? It's clear that my posts are factual and thenightaway's post are biased to present an image that is inaccurate and misleading. There doesn't seem to be any recourse for me to manage the page except create a second account. 2601:243:1600:98E0:15C2:CA28:AEFD:78F (talk) 22:46, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
Do you find it suspicious that DACartman just happens to be an account created to do waht Thenightaway can't right now?

Request reason:

It's been a week and I deserve the right to post about the COI and that anyone can review what I posted to the page to see that I only ever post factual information about the association. I was never hiding that I worked at ASA. I don't spend a lot of time on Misplaced Pages. The only editing I do is on the ASA page. I'd like to be able to do that again.

Decline reason:

You don't, in fact, have the right to use Misplaced Pages to right wrongs in the world. At this point, the only way I can see me unblocking you is with a topic ban from your former employer. Guerillero 19:40, 1 January 2025 (UTC)

Request reason:

I can't add a COI note if I'm blocked indefinitely. What do you recommend I do besides create a new account? Gsasa1061 (talk) 18:16, 28 December 2024 (UTC)

Decline reason:

I recommend that you get unblocked first. 331dot (talk) 19:06, 28 December 2024 (UTC)

And than you block me indefinitely. I've never posted anything except the facts about ASA. Where am I supposed to declare that I work there? I wasn't being biased. I just updated the president's name and the number of members. Yet, thenightaway, some random anonymous person can fill the page with biased and misleading information? What is one supposed to do? 2601:243:1600:98E0:15C2:CA28:AEFD:78F (talk) 22:48, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
Misplaced Pages:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI, linked to above, explains for to properly disclose your COI.
Misplaced Pages:FAQ/Article subjects#The information in your article about me is wrong. How can I get it fixed?, also linked to above covers how you can proceed. WP:Dispute resolution goes into further detail about how to proceed if you cannot come to an agreement. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 23:32, 27 December 2024 (UTC)

Gsasa1061 (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

What else do you want me to do? I've provided multiple reasons to be unblocked, explained that I'm new and didn't know all the secret handshakes and byzantine rules, and said I'd put a COI statement on my user page (which I can't do when blocked). The answers given to me about why I won't be unblocked don't provide a path to getting unblocked. Are you never going to unblock my account? It would be better to know than having to provide countless reasons for unblocking and getting nothing of value in feedback on why you won't unblock me. Gsasa1061 (talk) 20:13, 1 January 2025 (UTC)

Accept reason:

I'm going to reinstall the partial block on the article itself, but otherwise I think an understanding has been reached. Primefac (talk) 21:10, 1 January 2025 (UTC)

Further to the above, just a few bits of advice - if there are issues with American Society of Anesthesiologists, you will need to make an edit request on the talk page and discuss your proposed changes with other users. Discuss the content, not editors themselves; we are here to improve the encyclopedia, not bicker about who has a COI or why someone is attempting to make an edit. Replies won't always come right away, so please be patient if an edit request/discussion isn't proceeding as quickly as you would like. Finally, please remember to indicate your COI on your userpage. Primefac (talk) 21:15, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
Misplaced Pages's technical logs indicate that this user account has been or may be used abusively. It has been blocked indefinitely from editing to prevent abuse.

Note that multiple accounts are allowed, but not for illegitimate reasons, and any contributions made while evading blocks or bans may be reverted or deleted.
If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you should review the guide to appealing blocks, and then appeal your block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|Your reason here ~~~~}}. Note that anything you post in your unblock request will be public, so you may alternatively use the Unblock Ticket Request System to submit an appeal if it contains information that must be private.
Administrators: Checkusers have access to confidential system logs not accessible by the public or by administrators due to the Wikimedia Foundation's privacy policy. You must not loosen or remove this block, or issue an IP block exemption, without consulting with a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee. Administrators who undo checkuser blocks without permission from a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee may be summarily desysopped.
