And finally, Misplaced Pages is all about teamwork. It's not about ] or delivering a "Checkmate!". Editors must work together to build a reliable encyclopedia, not try to prove themselves to be "better" than others.

Prevention, not punishment. Working together, not winning. Resolution taken into your own hands rather than running to noticeboards whining and posting a record of past infractions, errors, and perceived wrongs. Keep the long-term goal in mind. Do your part to make things better and the rest will fall into place. Amen to all of that.

And finally, a comment on all-important perspective: Because Misplaced Pages is the encyclopedia anyone can edit it will always be an ever-evolving, ever-changing, ever-incomplete, ever-inaccurate collection of "stuff". There are those of us who work to keep Misplaced Pages as encyclopedic in nature as is possible. There are those who view it as a repository for information on celebrities - including every bit of ridiculous and unencyclopedic fan-garbage and trivia that can be found and replicated here. There are editors who have made Misplaced Pages their reason for being, continually and obsessively updating their edit count and editor ranking position while racking up tens-of-thousands of edits that in reality mean nothing because... (wait for it)...
...someone will come along and change what you just added or deleted. I think this qualifies for the pop-culture definition for insanity: "Doing the same thing over and over again while, each time, expecting a different result.
This is why I, while enjoying what I do here that is positive and helpful to making for a better encyclopedia, must remind myself that Misplaced Pages is truly ''only a hobby'' for the non-paid editors (the majority of Misplaced Pages editors). Along this same line of thinking is "don't take yourself so seriously".
Honest perspective. It's a good reality check to remind oneself of from time to time.
In Misplaced Pages, I go by "Winkelvi". I enjoy patrolling the "Recent changes" page, looking for vandalism by IP addresses. As a reviewer, I'm also often reviewing and then either accepting or rejecting pending changes. While I try to be accurate with the reverts I make and the subsequent warnings I leave on talk pages, I am only human and will make mistakes from time to time. If you're here because of an editing issue or a revert I've made to one or more of your edits and you feel I've made an error, please leave me a civil message on my talk page.
The following is taken from a talk page message left by a wise administrator after he blocked an editor for continued and escalating personal attacks as well as incivility and battleground behavior. I find what he has to say to be the best explanation yet of why remaining civil and cooperative in Misplaced Pages is the imperative gold standard:
"Misplaced Pages is an encyclopedia created not by any one individual, but by a cooperative community. It is mandatory that you cooperate with the community in editing Misplaced Pages. Attacking people and insulting them incessantly, as you have done, serves no good purpose. It disrupts the community, it drives people away from the discussions, and in the long term degrades the value of your own contributions."
Another administrator quote that contains more truism and sage advice:
"...administrators don't care about your content dispute. Administrative tools are intended to prevent disruption."
