- Non-playoff teams with identical overall records rotate through their collective draft positions. Playoff teams that lose in the same round and have identical overall records rotate through their collective draft positions. Each round, the team previously at the top of a rotation drops to the bottom, while each other team moves up one spot: for example, Jacksonville will have the first pick in the second round.
- The New York Jets pick ahead of Tennessee because of a head-to-head loss in Week 15.
- Since Chicago failed to make the playoffs, it will pick 20th in every round.
- Since Seattle and Green Bay reached the Divisional Round while Indianapolis did not, Indianapolis will pick 24th in every round, while Seattle and Green Bay will alternate the 25th and 26th picks.

Popular culture
During Super Bowl XLVII, the NFL presented a promotional advertisement for the 2013 Draft featuring retired athlete Deion Sanders attempting a comeback return under the name "Leon Sandcastle". The ad followed the fictional exploits of Sanders (portrayed by Ball State cornerback Andre Dawson) through tryouts until he is drafted first overall by the Kansas City Chiefs.
