An Oda clan vassal who would eventually betray Nobunaga. Contrary to the usual sympathetic portrayal of Mitsuhide (especially in the Onimusha and Samurai Warriors series), here he is depicted as a sadistic psychopath that enjoys the suffering of other people; possibly of a greater evil than Nobunaga himself. To illustrate this sadism, Mitsuhide is one of two characters who can hurt his allies, though they don't lose life. Wields two scythes. Devil Kings cut him from the game, making him an NPC instead. Mitsuhide was thought to be killed in Sengoku Basara 3, however, by that time, a masked monk named Tenkai who looks eerily similar to Mitsuhide appeared, manipulating Kobayakawa Hideaki. It was revealed in Sengoku Basara 3: UTAGE that Tenkai is Mitsuhide Akechi himself.

Chōsokabe Motochika

Daimyo of Shikoku. He was called "Little Princess" in his childhood, but earns himself the nickname of "Demon" later in life. Rules over the sea. His fortress has a cannon which repels his opponents and several mechanical machines. His crew often call him "aniki" (brother). He becomes playable in Sengoku Basara 2. He wields a long anchor-like spear that is equipped with a metal chain which he uses as both his weapon and his mode of land transportation. He speaks with a Romanian accent in Devil Kings. In Tadakatsu's Story Mode in Sengoku Basara 2, Motochika is included as one of Ieyasu's kidnappers. Ironically, in Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes, he ends up forming a friendly rivalry with Ieyasu. Motochika appears within many variable conflicts as a supposed rival to Mōri Motonari. In Sengoku Basara 3, Motochika's friendship with Ieyasu is strained as Ieyasu's men attacked Shikoku after Hideyoshi's death. Motochika ends up joining Mitsunari Ishida to demand an explanation from Ieyasu. However, in the alternate paths of his story, he finds that Ieyasu is not the real culprit of the attack. One path shows that Motonari Mōri and Yoshitsugu Ōtani are the true masterminds of the attack, while another shows that it was Kuroda Kanbē. Motochika serves the Ōtomo army during in Sengoku Basara 4. In Sengoku Basara 2 Repackage and Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes Repackage, he is the general and bodyguard of Nobunaga Oda alongside Mitsuhide Akechi, Tokugawa Ieyasu, Ranmaru Mori and Nōhime.

Masamune Date

The ruler of the Date clan known as the Dokuganryū (One-Eyed Dragon). He is a cocky, ambitious warlord who tends to pepper his speech with English. Usually wields a single katana, but he can store and fight with six swords at once (three in each hand, held between the fingers). His six swords are referred to as "The Claws of the Dragon". He is also depicted as having a love-hate relationship with Yukimura Sanada. Masamune is one of five generals (the others are Takeda Shingen, Maeda Keiji, Chōsokabe Motochika and Kotarō Fūma) in Sengoku Basara Heroes to receive a three stage gaiden. His gaiden revolves around his elimination of Oda Nobunaga and his rivalry with Yukimura, though he does befriend him at some point. Masamune returns in Sengoku Basara 3, though his personality became less-joking and more serious after he tasted the first true defeat by the hands of Mitsunari Ishida.

Hōjō Ujimasa

Head of the Hōjō clan. Mostly known for his impressive fortress, Odawara, and his defensive stance towards the brewing war. Wields a multi-bladed spear (he used to have Toshiie Maeda's style, but was given his own style in Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes). He honors his ancestors wholeheartedly as well, though in Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes, where he becomes playable, he is shown to be scared at his ancestors' wrath, as his Basara involves him being scared to hell when the spirits of the ancestors come in, crawling throughout the battlefield, with his ancestors following him and damaging the enemies that comes in contact. He returns in Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes as an NPC, but accompanies Kotarō during his missions. Becomes playable in Sengoku Basara 3: UTAGE.

Honda Tadakatsu

  • Tadakatsu Honda is a silent character.

One of the greatest generals under Tokugawa Ieyasu. A giant man clad in armor, possessing great strength in each of his blows. For some reason, he resembles a giant robot, which he may be in the game. He also cannot talk, so fans don't know what he is thinking unless they can translate the noises he makes, written as lengths of exclamation points. Due to his size, nature and his abilities, fans often call him Hondam and for good reason. Wields a huge drill-spear. Tadakatsu returns in Sengoku Basara 3.

Imagawa Yoshimoto

Daimyo of Suruga; childish and cowardly but will fight when ultimately cornered. His lack of resolve costs his soldiers to lose heart multiple times while still in battle (i.e. their army's moral falls occasionally) though his occasional bursts of courage would increase their morale - until the next time he panics again, that is. In Sengoku Basara 2, he confuses his enemies by promoting his head archers to his rank, not allowing the player to see where he really is. Wields a giant fan. He is playable in Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes; his Basara involves him disco dancing with dance lights shown, getting his head smashed by the disco ball, and tripping in the end.

Itsuki

A fictional character representing the Ainu tribe from Hokkaidō. She leads a rebel group for the sake of the peasants suffering due to war. She has a special taskforce wearing pink vests called the "Itsuki Fans Club" in Sengoku Basara 2. In Devil Kings, she speaks with a Southern United States accent. Wields a giant hammer.

Kasuga

A fictional female ninja serving the Uesugi clan (her name may be from Kasugayama Castle). She fell in love with Kenshin Uesugi at first sight (while attempting to assassinate him) and became his most loyal ninja. She takes her duties seriously, and also has rivalries with Nōhime (regarding on those they protect) and Sarutobi Sasuke (as ninja, and due to contradicting personalities). Wields two small ringblades in Sarutobi Sasuke's style in Devil Kings, but in Sengoku Basara 2, she wields eight kunai (four on each hand) tied with invisible razorwire. Her double jump involves gliding by clinging unto an owl. Kasuga is reduced into an NPC in Sengoku Basara 3, but becomes playable again in Sengoku Basara 3: UTAGE.

Matsu

Wife of Toshiie Maeda. She's more responsible than her husband but still loves him whole-heartedly. Due to her characteristics, fans call her "the ideal housewife". Has a unique ability to summon animals. Wields a katana in Kenshin Uesugi's style in Devil Kings, but in Sengoku Basara 2, she wields a naginata. She is demoted to NPC-status in Sengoku Basara 3, but becomes playable again in Sengoku Basara 3: UTAGE.

Maeda Toshiie

Another of Oda's most prominent vassals, though he doesn't seem so in the game. A strong family man, he loves his wife Matsu (and adopted nephew Keiji in Sengoku Basara 2) dearly but he doesn't have much for brains and seems to be perpetually famished, often asking Matsu for more food. He is also the usual target of Keiji's pranks which often lead him to chase Keiji around the house. Wields a trident. Toshiie is a NPC in Sengoku Basara 3, but becomes playable again in Sengoku Basara 3: UTAGE.

Mōri Motonari

Daimyo of Chūgoku. Known as 'the Great Motonari' for possessing a great tactical mind, but thinks very little of his subordinates and sees them as disposable pawns. He, like Mitsuhide, can hit his allies with his weapon. He becomes playable in Sengoku Basara 2. In Sengoku Basara, he uses a saihai in Kenshin's style. In Sengoku Basara 2, he wields a ringblade, which he can separate to become twin blades. He has a habit of watching the sunset. His Basara includes creating his own sun to drain his enemies' life. He is depicted as the rival of Chōsokabe Motochika. In his Story in Sengoku Basara 2, he confronts and taunts Motochika for always being protected by his pirate "brothers", and Motochika asks if he (i.e. Motonari) was always alone. Motonari replies that he only needs one person to understand him - himself. Motonari returns in Sengoku Basara 3, having joined the alliance under Mitsunari Ishida along with his rival Motochika, although he was merely biding his time to take over the land for himself with one swoop.

Mori Ranmaru

The young page of Nobunaga Oda. He eagerly desires recognition from his master and will fight tenaciously for him. Wields a bow. Ranmaru was confirmed dead in Sengoku Basara 3 and is replaced by Tsuruhime as a bow character.

Nōhime

Nobunaga's wife, who Nobunaga happens to not care very much for. Very devoted to only him, she shows no mercy to her enemies. Wields two handguns and is also able to unleash other types of guns such as a cannon, shotgun or gatling gun. Nōhime was confirmed dead in Sengoku Basara 3 and is replaced by Magoichi Saica as a firearms character.

Oda Nobunaga

The first of the three unifiers. Nobunaga is much similar to his counterpart in the Onimusha series. He is ruthless and will stop at nothing until the world bows to his might. Wields a sword in one hand and a shotgun in the other. Although he was killed at Honnō-ji, Nobunaga is resurrected by Tenkai (by killing Oichi and using her blood to bring him back) in Sengoku Basara 3 and remains a playable character. After returning to life, the Demon King sets out to conquer Japan once again. In Oichi's story, after he is resurrected, she sacrifices herself to drive her brother back to his resting place. Other characters can also fight Nobunaga at Honnō-ji on their optional paths.

Sanada Yukimura

One of the main characters of Sengoku Basara, Yukimura is among the most distinguished warriors in the Sengoku Era who opposes Tokugawa Ieyasu to the end. Wields two jūmonji-yari, very hot-blooded and is fanatically loyal to Shingen Takeda. Has a love-hate relationship with Masamune and a common "punching bag" for Takeda's unnecessary brawls; although he always looks at it as a test of strength. In his gaiden in Sengoku Basara Heroes, Yukimura receives "special" training from Shingen and gets Sasuke involved, though Sasuke doesn't approve of it. In the end, Yukimura succeeds and tries to hit Shingen with his 'newfound strength', only to hit Sasuke and get hit by Shingen, almost killing him (Yukimura). Yukimura's gaiden can be looked at as an introduction to Heroes' new features: the Daruma mini-game and the electric fence. Yukimura returns in Sengoku Basara 3, having taken over the Takeda army during Shingen's absence, now having doubts on his own leadership skills due to his mistakes.

Sarutobi Sasuke

A ninja in the service of Takeda clan (or to be exact the Sanada clan), counted as one of the Sanada Ten Braves. He is sneaky, cunning, and laid back but has a big sense of responsibility when necessary. Has a friendly rivalry with the Uesugi army's ninja Kasuga, though the latter doesn't look at it that way. Wields two giant shuriken attached with invisible razor wire. He also summons a crow familiar to glide down. Sasuke is reduced into an NPC in Sengoku Basara 3, but becomes playable again in Sengoku Basara 3: UTAGE.

Shimazu Yoshihiro

The daimyo of Satsuma. Although old, he is a great warrior who is not to be underestimated. He is also known for his impeccable ambush parties. He is the desired target of Tadakatsu Honda. Wields a broad sword. He was cut from a playable character in Devil Kings. Yoshihiro returns in Sengoku Basara 3, now preparing to pave the way for the young generations in the future.

Takeda Shingen

Leader of the Takeda clan, famous for its cavalry. Has a large, imposing frame and a brilliant mind as well. Wields a giant axe. Often starts large and unnecessary brawls with Yukimura, sometimes for no reason, usually by wrestling or exchanging names while punching each other at the face. In Sengoku Basara 3, Shingen falls heavily ill and does not appear in the game, his leadership over the Takeda army taken by Yukimura. However, he does make an appearance in one of Yukimura's endings. In Sengoku Basara 3: UTAGE he has made a full recovery and becomes a playable character once again.

Tokugawa Ieyasu

The third of the Three Unifiers. Although small in size, he makes it up with his trust in his generals as well as his control over his most prized general (or creation), Tadakatsu Honda. Wields a bladed staff in Toshiie Maeda's style. In Sengoku Basara 2, Tadakatsu Honda's Story Mode has Ieyasu being kidnapped again and again by the other characters (in fact, usually in front of Tadakatsu just after he has saved Ieyasu from the previous kidnapping), which results in Tadakatsu going on various journeys to rescue him, this is sometimes credited to Ieyasu's experience of being a hostage of Imagawa when he goes by the name Matsudaira Takechiyo (he is referred as Takechiyo in Tadakatsu's story mode). He is playable in Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes, and his Basara includes summoning Tadakatsu to the field and have him perform his Basara. Sengoku Basara 3 had his design revamped into an older and taller version of himself and fights with brass knuckles. He surrendered to Hideyoshi after Nobunaga's demise, but suddenly struck back and managed to kill Hideyoshi. He now aims to unite the land through the power of bonds. As the Supreme Commander of the Eastern Army, he gathers allies to battle Mitsunari Ishida and the Western Army. Ieyasu, who is an adult and fights with brass knuckles also appears in Sengoku Basara 1 Repackage to take revenge The Demon King of Sixth Heaven, Nobunaga Oda who kidnapping Masamune and Yukimura. In Sengoku Basara 2 Repackage and Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes Repackage, Ieyasu is an adult and has knuckles is the Nobunaga Oda's strategist and bodyguard.

Uesugi Kenshin

Leader of the Uesugi clan, Shingen Takeda's rival as well as a devout monk to Bishamonten. He looks very feminine, but his accomplishments earned him the nickname "God of War". Wields a katana and uses a style seemingly based on iaijutsu (yet heavily stylized as he has great speed). Kenshin is reduced into an NPC in Sengoku Basara 3, but becomes playable again in Sengoku Basara 3: UTAGE.

Xavi

  • Voices in Japanese: Kozo Shioya

Based on the Christian missionary Francis Xavier. Xavi is a missionary whose intention is to spread the love of the Christian God in Japan. Very proficient with machinery; his stronghold contains traps and mechanical drones (bearing resemblance to himself and dubbed the Mecha-Q's in Devil Kings). An inside joke is that his angels resemble miniature versions of himself with curly hair and appear whenever he wants them. In Devil Kings, he speaks with what seems to be an Italian accent. Wields two hand cannons.

Azai Nagamasa

A former ally of Nobunaga Oda, now rebelling against him. He is a man fighting for justice and vows to destroy anybody who creates chaos, namely Nobunaga. Wields a long sword and a folding buckler. His fighting style and mannerism are similar to that of a typical superhero, preferably the Metal Hero Series. He's also often seen roughly telling Oichi to shut up or stop crying, only to shyly declare his love (sometimes with flowers), making him a male tsundere. He is playable in Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes. His story revolves around ridding Japan of the chaos, preferably Nobunaga, and his relationship with Oichi which started out with love, then turn to hatred and eventually leads back to loving her again. Nagamasa's story can be looked at a tokusatsu point-of-view due to certain elements of the genre present. Nagamasa is confirmed to be dead in Sengoku Basara 3.

Fūma Kotarō

  • Element: Wind
  • Kotarō Fūma is a silent character.

A ninja serving Ujimasa Hōjō. He is depicted as a man who never talks, but takes action immediately. Like Kasuga and Sarutobi Sasuke, he can create duplicates of himself. His weapons are giant shuriken. He is playable in Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes, where he uses a pair of ninjatō instead. Unlike Kasuga and Sasuke who need bird familiars to glide down, Kotarō can glide straightforward with just his body and can further glide when paired with his air attack. His gaiden in Heroes revolves around his elimination of Hideyoshi and Hanbē, with a little help from Kasuga and Sasuke. After killing Hideyoshi, Kotarō has no use for the two anymore and so ends up defeating them. He returns in Sengoku Basara 3, either allying the Hōjō to the Eastern Army or helping Ujimasa finding a cure for Shingen's illness.

Honganji Kennyo

  • Element: Lightning (initially) and light
  • Voices in Japanese: Shinpachi Tsuji

Kennyo is the Chief Abbot of the Ikkō sect. He is depicted in the series as a greedy man who thinks of nothing but money and muscles. In fact, he believes that EVERYTHING can be achieved with both money and muscles, especially victory. His fortress is surrounded with chests and pots full of gold coins, which the player can attack to gain extra money. During his boss fight of his stage, he will resort to bribing the player's allies to turn against the player's character when his health is reduced to about a half.

Kennyo's army consists of men who are equally money- and muscle-crazy, and whose speech makes use of Buddhism terminologies. Additionally, their in-game actions and lines makes direct reference to those found in Sakigake!! Otokojuku. An example will be Kennyo's entrance line: "THIS MONK HERE IS HONGANJI KENNYO!!!" (拙僧が本願寺顕如であ〜〜る!!, Sessou ga Honganji Kennyo de aaaaaaru!!), a nod to Heihachi Edajima's famous line: "I AM THE PRINCIPAL OF OTOKOJUKU, EDAJIMA HEIHACHI!!!" (わしが男塾塾長江田島平八である!!, Washi ga Otokojuku Jukuchō Edajima Heihachi de aru!!).

Kennyo wields a monk's staff as his weapon. Originally as a NPC enemy general, he becomes a playable character in Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes, where he shares his moveset with Takeda Shingen, albeit with only two skills available and no story mode. Additionally, he thinks he's a macho man due to his moveset.

Katakura Kojūrō

Masamune Date's strategist and bodyguard in battle. He seems to agree with Masamune at some points in battle. Wields a katana and wakizashi set. He is also noted to be the only left-handed character in the game. He is playable in Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes, where he gains a 'super' mode by charging his power and revamps his moveset to resemble more that of a yakuza swordsman. His story revolves around him chasing Matsunaga Hisahide after the latter took the majority of Date retainers captive, and sapped Masamune's will to fight by stealing his six swords. Eventually during his adventure, his power exceeds causing him to awaken his 'super' mode. He returns being an NPC in Sengoku Basara 3 but becomes playable again in Sengoku Basara 3: UTAGE.

Maeda Keiji

Adopted nephew of Toshiie Maeda and Matsu. Keiji is what people call a happy-go-lucky man. He enjoys festivals, as well as pulling pranks at Toshiie. Despite his demeanor towards his step-family, he loves them though shows resentment at them due to their objection to his lifestyle. Accompanying him is a small monkey named Yumekichi. His weapon is a ludicrously oversized nodachi. Despite its length, he can use it one-handed. He also uses its sheath, but rather than carry it around he throws it in to the sky, having it come down just when he needs to use it. He receives a three stage gaiden in Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes, where he used to be friends with Hideyoshi Toyotomi, but loses him due to Hideyoshi's lust for power. Keiji serves the Uesugi army during the tenure of Sengoku Basara 3, falling in love with the female Magoichi Saica along the way. he returns in Sengoku Basara 2 Repackage and Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes Repackage, as the friend of Hideyoshi Toyotomi and the bodyguard of Hideyoshi.

Matsunaga Hisahide

A very shrewd daimyo. He is a manipulative, scheming man whose weapons are a sword and gunpowders. He is involved in various back stories, such as taking most of the Date retainers hostage and inciting Kojūrō's anger by humiliating Masamune. In another story, he humiliated and defeated Hideyoshi, causing him to be drunk on power and turned him from a sane man in vein of Keiji into the power-hungry ambitious man he is in Sengoku Basara 2. One of his noticeable traits is that he likes taking hostages and tying them to a pillar. He is usually assisted with three death themed nameless generals, which fans dubbed the, "Miyoshi Death Trio" (Hisahide was related with the daimyo Miyoshi Chōkei in history). Noticeably, he walks slowly, but sidesteps with great speed. Hisahide also becomes an interruption man in the Unification Mode, just like Musashi. He is a playable character in Sengoku Basara 3: Utage.

Miyamoto Musashi

A master swordsman who is portrayed as a wild man itching for a fight to prove that he is the strongest man in Japan. Players can encounter him at random on Unification mode. Earning 50+ points in Unification mode unlocks Musashi as playable in Unification, Free and Arena modes only. He however is limited to only two moves. Wields an Eku and a wooden sword. During battle, he constantly taunts the opponent, calling them "Baka" (or "stupid"), which does damage when his spit touches his enemy.

Oichi

The wife of Nagamasa Azai and sister of Nobunaga Oda. She is depicted as a depressed woman who worries about Nagamasa and the friction between him and Nobunaga. While considered innocent looking, she also has a dark side which can become dangerous once she snaps. She wields a double bladed naginata, which she can separate and chainlink to its bar. She is playable in Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes. Her story, considered to be the most tragic, revolves around her witnessing Nagamasa being killed by Nobunaga in Anegawa and was forced to fight on Nobunaga's name, slowly losing her sanity due to her the loss of her husband and her brother's ruthless methods. In the end, she succumbs to her own dark powers, which leads her to kill his retainers (Nōhime and Ranmaru) and eventually Nobunaga himself. After killing her brother in Honnō-ji, Oichi regains her sanity for a little while, broke down in tears for her atrocity to her family and clan, before the temple collapses; she's presumed dead afterwards. Oichi is the only character with a unique ending sequence; her image song, "Nemure Hi no Hana" sung by Mamiko Noto, her own voice actress. Oichi returns as a playable character in Sengoku Basara 3, here having lost her memories to suppress the pain of witnessing Nagamasa's death and being forced to do cruelties under Nobunaga's name in the past. She also no longer fights with her double bladed Naginata and exclusively uses her dark hands.

Takenaka Hanbei

Hideyoshi Toyotomi's strategist. He is intelligent and extremely loyal to Hideyoshi. Around his enemies, he is narcissistic, cold and very cruel. Given the chance, he can wipe them all out by swinging his weapon. His favorite methods of assassination are back-stabbing his opponents at his weapon's reach and snaring his opponents when they are not looking. Despite his physique, he suffers from tuberculosis. He is somewhat similar to Zorro in style and look (the face mask). His weapon is a whipsword. Hanbei is confirmed dead in the timeline of Sengoku Basara 3 along with Hideyoshi.

Toyotomi Hideyoshi

Second of the Three Unifiers. Unlike his real and Samurai Warriors counterparts, he is depicted as a giant man, whose ambition is to rule all of Japan and form it into a formidable, prospering nation, which causes him to declare Nobunaga as a source of chaos that must be annihilated. Even though he has good intentions, he is drunk with power and will use any means, no matter how ruthless, to achieve it (though he is still charismatic and caring to his subordinates, unlike Motonari). With just his bare hands, he can destroy an entire platoon in just seconds. His weapons are his hands, which can be strengthened with magical arm guards. Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes reveals that he used to be friends with Keiji and was sane (joining Keiji in making pranks here and there), before the hunger for power (fueled by being humiliated by Matsunaga Hisahide) corrupted him into the man he is in Sengoku Basara 2. It's even hinted that he killed his historical wife in Keiji's story to achieve more power. According to the storyline of Sengoku Basara 3, Hideyoshi defeats Akechi Mitsuhide and seized control of the land, but he was killed in action by his rebelling vassal Tokugawa Ieyasu. Mitsunari Ishida is out for Ieyasu's head on Hideyoshi's behalf. Hideyoshi is resurrected back to life by Yoshitsugu in Sengoku Basara 2 Repackage and Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes Repackage and is a playable character. In most of the characters' stories, Yoshitsugu kills Matsu and uses her blood to bring back Hideyoshi.

Amago Haruhisa

A rather laid-back samurai that uses sand as a special technique. He also has the ability to hide under sandy ground to elude attackers as well as sending sandstorms toward opponents. He wields a sword and the wind of the desert. He is a NPC.

Anegakōji Yoritsuna

Leader of the Azure Castle, Anegakōji is a warrior that specializes in using plant-growing techniques, such as spiked trunk and rolling logs. He has a fondness for the forest that surrounds the castle. He wields a sword and can use tree logs and trunks for his attacks. He is a NPC.

Mitsunari Ishida

Supreme Commander of the Western Army. He was previously a vassal of Hideyoshi Toyotomi, whom he viewed as a role-model and served with absolute loyalty. He is fueled by rage and obsessed with his desire to take revenge on Tokugawa Ieyasu for killing Hideyoshi, caring very little for other concerns, personal or political. He wields a katana and attacks faster than the eye can see, often having his weapon resheathed before the enemy knows what's hit them. In Sengoku Basara 1 Repackage, Mitsunari takes revenge to Ieyasu for killing Nobunaga Oda. In Sengoku Basara 2 Repackage and Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes Repackage he also Hideyoshi Toyotomi's strategist and bodyguard alongside Maeda Keiji, Takenaka Hanbei and Yoshitsugu Otani.

Kobayakawa Hideaki

Commander of Hideaki's Forces. However, he is a glutton that is known for his inability to make decisions. Usually relies on others to make decisions for him, and eats his stress away. Loyal to Motonari Mōri and Mitsunari Ishida who treat him like a pawn. His weapon is a pot, which he spins on to attack. He also uses food ingredients to attack. As true to the historical records, he ends up betraying the Western Army, much to Mitsunari's anger. He is a NPC in Sengoku Basara 3, but becomes playable in Sengoku Basara 3: UTAGE.

Kuroda Kanbei

Former member of Hideyoshi's Forces. Was driven away south by Mitsunari Ishida after his plans to take over Japan by himself were discovered. He is attempting to use the turmoil spreading across Japan to take over, but is constantly outwitted by Motonari and Yoshitsugu. He appears as a prisoner whose hands have been locked and cuffed with a ball and chain, which he also uses as his weapon. His alternate story paths focus on hunting down an eagle which had stolen the key needed to free his bound arms.

Mogami Yoshiaki

Head of the Mogami clan. Trying to take control of north-eastern Japan for the clan. Has already met Masamune Date and Kenshin Uesugi in battle, and is trying to use that experience to take the weakened Oushu from Masamune, his nephew. He wields a long, light rapier and can counterattack. He is a NPC in Sengoku Basara 3, but becomes playable in Sengoku Basara 3: UTAGE.

Harumasa Nanbu

General standing post at Mount Osore, Nanbu has the power to summon spirits from the underworld and create mind-controlled zombie-like warriors with a special gas. He is a NPC.

Ōtani Yoshitsugu

Friend of Mitsunari Ishida. Helps to keep the Western Army in line, as well as keeping Mitsunari's fury contained. Driven mad by his leprosy, Yoshitsugu seeks to bring misery and bad fortune that equals his own to everyone in the world, but is nonetheless concerned for Mitsunari's well-being. He uses several orbs as a weapon and rides a levitating palanquin. Holds a certain measure of respect for Motonari Mōri. He appears to being into a NPC in Sengoku Basara 2 Repackage and playable again in Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes Repackage alongside Maeda Keiji, Takenaka Hanbei, Hideyoshi Toyotomi and Mitsunari Ishida.

Ōtomo Sōrin

Sorin is the young head of the Otomo clan, and loyal member of the suspicious religion known as Xavism. Is willing to do anything to create a nation of Xavism in Kyushu, and this has brought ruin to many surrounding areas. His territory is protected by Muneshige Tachibana and Chosokabe Motochika. He uses a vehicle that resembles the head of Pontiff Xavi, which can shoot missiles and creates a musical field. He is a NPC in Sengoku Basara 3, but becomes playable in Sengoku Basara 3: UTAGE.

Saika Magoichi

Third leader of the Saica Faction, a mercenary force. Doesn't care for money, and only has the Saica Faction take on jobs that will improve their status and standing in Japan. Each member of her faction is united by a deep bond. While most historical representations show Magoichi as a man, the name 'Magoichi' was used for the leader of the Saica and could have referred to a woman as well. She uses a variety of anachronistic firearms as her weapons, including pistols, shotguns, assault rifles, and a rocket launcher, thus she replaces Nōhime as a firearms character. Her real name, as revealed in conversations with Motochika, is Sayaka. She holds a grudge against the Toyotomi clan for their previous service to Hideyoshi which, presumably, ended badly. In her battle agains Nobunaga Oda is revealed that she has lost her mentor (who was killed by Nobunaga), most likely the previous Magoichi Saika.

Satake Yoshishige

A general in charge of an academy for soldiers, Satake is also known for his clumsiness, which he tries to get rid of with his training. He wields a pike. He is a NPC.

Tachibana Muneshige

A very loyal general that serves Sorin Otomo with Chosokabe Motochika. Known as one of the country's three greatest warriors. Puts great importance into respecting and believing in people. While being used by Sorin, he swore an oath to him, and will not break an oath as a warrior. He uses the Lightning Edge, which was two chainsaws which has lightning-based attacks. He is a NPC in Sengoku Basara 3, but becomes playable in Sengoku Basara 3: UTAGE.

Tenkai

Unknown man who serves Kobayakawa Hideaki as a monk. Respectful and polite, he is appreciated by many for his encouraging words and strong decision-making skills. His identity and true intentions are completely unknown. He wields two scythes which have life-leeching abilities. Tenkai is a NPC in Sengoku Basara 3, but becomes playable in Sengoku Basara 3: UTAGE, where it is revealed that he is Mitsuhide Akechi in disguise. In most of the characters' stories in Sengoku Basara 3, Tenkai kills Oichi and uses her blood to resurrect Nobunaga, though he himself is killed by the player before the ritual is complete.

Tsuruhime

Tsuruhime is a young and naive Oracle and a priestess who wishes to protect her homeland. Because of her secluded life, she has very little knowledge of the outside world and of various things and concepts outside of her shrine, such as mistaking a tiger for a bear, and not knowing what "sadness" means. She became infatuated with the ninja Kotaro Fūma when he saved her life during a naval battle. She uses a bow as her weapon, replacing Ranmaru Mori as a bow character.

Utsunomiya Hirotsuna

A young aspiring spear fighter, Utsunomiya is dreaming to become a samurai. He has a pet white tiger and send a lot of them to impede the invading general during his stage. He wields a spear. he is a NPC.
