Linking disasters

Hi and welcome to Misplaced Pages. One way to learn how to do things is to look at the wiki source (what you see when you edit a page) and see how similar things are already done. Copy some of the text to the Sandbox and play there. I'm sure you mean well, but please don't mess articles up with experiments. To link to a minseries you need something like:

* '']'' (2006 TV miniseries)

or

* '']'' (2006 TV miniseries)

with the second example for a title with parentheses, that is called a "piped link" after the "|" character. Make sure in the preview that your changes look correct before saving.

I will check back in an hour or so and tidy up any remaining wreckage :) I will also leave a standard welcome message after this which has a few useful links. --Mirokado (talk) 18:06, 21 November 2011 (UTC)

List of Harry Potter cast members

Hi Soap Fan,

The actor you're missing is Geraldine Somerville. Thanks for your interest in the List of Harry Potter cast members! If you have time, I would greatly appreciate it if you would add a review to the list's TFL submission.

Happy editing,

Neelix (talk) 21:09, 24 November 2011 (UTC)

Hi Soap Fan,
I don't remember which scenes she acted in, but she is listed in the credits for each of the films. I believe that her appearances in The Prisoner of Azkaban and The Half-Blood Prince are both in moving photographs. I hope this helps!

Welcome to Misplaced Pages. Please do not replace pages with blank content, as you did with this edit to User talk:Alexisfan07, as this is confusing to readers. The page's content has been restored for now. If there is a problem with the page, it should be edited or reverted to a previous version if possible; if you think the page should be removed entirely, see further information. Thank you. General Hospital

I have reverted the edits that you and Musicfreak7676 made to infobox of General Hospital because 1) Valentini and Carlivati will assume their role only in January 9, 2012 and 2) one of you guys put "2012-present" which isn't logical since we're still in 2011.

The edits I've removed are only those you made to the infobox. Your edits to the "Show's history" section are still there. Please note that it's okay to add content about the future in the text section of an article. But infos about the future are to be avoided on the infobox.

Thank you Farine (talk) 07:10, 6 December 2011 (UTC)

Don't know why you did that, Ron Carlivati and Frank Valentini is gonna be the new head writer and EP so. Soapfan2013 (talk) 07:55, 6 December 2011 (UTC)

The answer is already in your own sentence. They're gonna be head writer and EP. They're not head writer and EP at the moment and Phelps is still EP until January. The infobox reflects the present, not the future. Farine (talk) 08:11, 6 December 2011 (UTC)
Plus, it's RC and FV ARE going to be, not is gonna be. Just follow what the person above us has said. Don't challenge authority. Musicfreak7676 (talk) 17:40, 6 December 2011 (UTC)

This isn't English class Musicfreak. Soapfan2013 (talk) 20:10, 6 December 2011 (UTC)

Problems with upload of File:VanHugehsColeThornhart2012.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:VanHugehsColeThornhart2012.jpg. You don't seem to have said where the image came from, who created it, or provided a license tag. We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Misplaced Pages, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.

To add this information, select the appropriate license tag from this list, click on this link, then click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page and add the information to the image's description. If you can't find a suitable license tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Misplaced Pages. If you need help, post your question on Misplaced Pages:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 19:05, 6 January 2012 (UTC)

RE: Ron Carlivati and Frank Valentini

I don't mind if you prefer to put back Phelphs/Wolf. One way or the other, it doesn't bother me. But it might be hard to know which GH episode is the first episode under the RC/FV regime. Soap opera magazines will never document something as trivial as this, especially that a taping day can be spread on many episodes. Likewise, one episode can come from several taping days.

Maybe you should ask Musicfreak7676, if he thinks it's better to still keep Phelps/Wolf or to put RC/FV instead. But as far as I'm concerned, one way or the other is acceptable. Best regards.Farine (talk) 21:56, 9 January 2012 (UTC)

The show still list Jonathan Jackson in the opening. So the show's credits are hardly reliable. ABC is not known to be very quick in updating some opera credits. Since you prefer to keep RC/FV, then we'll keep RC/FV. Regards. Farine (talk) 00:14, 10 January 2012 (UTC)
On a second thought, I think it would be better to put back Phelps and Wolf. I know that you prefer RC/FV, but we have to stay faithful to what the show indicate. It is kind of contradictory to list RC/FV on the GH article when they're still listed on the OLTL article as well. Farine (talk) 01:01, 10 January 2012 (UTC)

Your recent editing history shows that you are in danger of breaking the three-revert rule, or that you may have already broken it. An editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Breaking the three-revert rule often leads to a block.

If you wish to avoid being blocked, instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to discuss the changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. You may still be blocked for edit warring even if you do not exceed the technical limit of the three-revert rule if your behavior indicates that you intend to continue to revert repeatedly. --George Ho (talk) 21:59, 22 January 2012 (UTC)

The problem with the picture

Musicfreak asked me to look into this. They win by default because, although the two look very similar to me, you didn't provide any source information (beyond that you uploaded it) for where this image came from, so it can't be authenticated. Since this is required per fair use criterion 10a, the image will have to be deleted. Can you tell us where it came from? That would help. Daniel Case (talk) 06:15, 23 January 2012 (UTC)

Daniel, it came from me, I had the episode, I took it with my Windows Movie Maker. I didn't get it off of a website. Soapfan2013 (talk) 08:06, 23 January 2012 (UTC)

I think what you meant to say was it came from an episode from the series. So you then name the episode etc.. as you are not the original source. You do not need to credit yourself as the source. We can see who uploaded the image from the log.Rain the 1 04:25, 24 January 2012 (UTC)

The Talk

Please note that The Talk premiered on Monday, October 18th, 2010, one month after ATWT ended. Unlike ABC's replacement shows, The Talk did not debuted on the next Monday following the soap's last episode.

Thank you. Farine (talk) 22:29, 23 January 2012 (UTC)

I didn't notice the October part. Sorry Soapfan2013 (talk) 04:14, 24 January 2012 (UTC)

Soapcentral and Twitter as sources

Hi, in this update you stated "SoapCentral and twitter are allowed cuz I said so. If you don't like it tough beans". I'm a Misplaced Pages administrator, and I'm here to let you know that these are NOT acceptable sources of information. Feel free to look over WP:RELIABLE to learn what we do regard as acceptable sources. Thanks, Manning (talk) 03:07, 26 January 2012 (UTC)

Soapcentral is a website like ABC Soaps In Depth, soaps.com, soapoperadigest.com. They report soap news. All of them are reliable. Soapfan2013 (talk) 03:42, 26 January 2012 (UTC)
You are entitled to your opinion. However, Misplaced Pages is run according to consensus, and the current consensus is that this site is not acceptable as a reliable source. Hence any information added from this site will not be permitted to remain. Manning (talk) 03:55, 26 January 2012 (UTC)
Soapfan - Soapcentral is actually a fansite. Published by fans, for the fans. ABC Soaps is obviously owned by the American Broadcasting company - Soap Opera Digest is published by magazine company Source Interlink - Soapsheknows has a good editorial and confirm stories, but even then it is limited to Interviews via consensus. I did request that you read some guidelines - however it looks as though you did not. Otherwise you would not be happily denouncing key guidelines in edit summaries and voicing support for a fansite with no credentials - that despite consensus bnot to use it amongst many WP:SOAPS editors and RSN.Rain the 1 03:59, 26 January 2012 (UTC)

Episode count.

There was a new consensus that we don't update episode count until the end of the week, due to edit disputes between members. Just thought I'd let you know. MusicFreak7676 17:55, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

nobody told me about it so, sorry. Soapfan2013 (talk) 19:44, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

I have granted your account an exemption from IP blocking. This will allow you to edit through full blocks affecting your IP address when you are logged in.

Please read the page Misplaced Pages:IP block exemption carefully, especially the section on IP block exemption conditions.

Note in particular that you are not permitted to use this newly-granted right to edit Misplaced Pages via anonymous proxies, or disruptively. If you do, or there is a serious concern of abuse, then the right may be removed by any administrator.

Appropriate usage and compliance with the policy may be checked periodically, due to the nature of block exemption, and block exemption will be removed when no longer needed (for example, when the block it is related to expires).

I hope this will enhance your editing, and allow you to edit successfully and without disruption. TNXMan 14:31, 29 February 2012 (UTC)

Any chance this isn't the first account you've had here? AniMate 20:28, 7 March 2012 (UTC)

Animate I'm not gonna lie to you, yeah that was me, that was the old me man, I'm trying to change and I'm sorry for all the crap I gave you and everybody here, I shouldn't have done what I did. I acted like a complete jerk, I'm just trying to help out Misplaced Pages the best way I can, if you still wanna ban me go for it, I'm trying not to be that same guy I was on that nic, I know I caused alotta trouble but I'm trying to change really I am. Musicfreak has been helping me out alot on this man, I don't wanna be the same guy that causes a disruption on Misplaced Pages and I hope I'm not doing that on this account. He knows I have Asperger's Syndrome but I don't think you ever did. Again Animate I'm sorry for all the stuff I did to you and being a complete jerk, just trying my best here. Soapfan2013 (talk) 21:30, 7 March 2012 (UTC)

I've opened Misplaced Pages:Sockpuppet investigations/Onelifefreak2007 again. You may want to comment there. I've said I wouldn't be opposed to keeping this account unblocked and am leaving it up to other administrators to decide your future here. Also, it should be noted that many, many socks have been attributed to you. I've said I don't believe the majority are in fact you, and perhaps a word from you at the investigation is necessary. AniMate 22:17, 7 March 2012 (UTC)

To be honest those sockpuppets were made by someone else namely Pickbothmanlol or something like that, had nothing to do with those, he just said for me to logon, so I did. By the way, what does opposed mean, does that mean you want this nic blocked? Soapfan2013 (talk) 22:30, 7 March 2012 (UTC)

When I say "I wouldn't be opposed to keeping this account unblocked" I'm saying that I don't necessarily want you blocked. I've suspected that Pickmanbothlol was actually the user for many of those reports. There is one thing you need to realize. We don't block "nics" we block people here. Should an outside administrator decide to block this account, that means you as a person are not allowed to edit here. AniMate 22:58, 7 March 2012 (UTC)

Animate, I've changed since I used that nic, well trying too, I hope you realize that because I wanna help out, I wanna become a different person than I was, and I am trying real hard here, how did you know it was me and how long have you suspected? Soapfan2013 (talk) 23:03, 7 March 2012 (UTC)

I can tell it's you by the way you write, and I only suspected today because I took a few minutes to look over your contributions. AniMate 23:08, 7 March 2012 (UTC)

Have I improved some since I was on the last nic or am I pretty much the same, I wanna work better, tell me how to prove myself if I haven't improved myself. I wanna try to improve my behavior and I think I still need more work but I think I also improved. What do you think? Soapfan2013 (talk) 23:17, 7 March 2012 (UTC)

I really haven't had a chance to look through your edits, as all it took was me reading one comment from you to know this was your account. The administrator at WP:SPI has declined to block this account, so you get a pass for now. Your biggest problem was always insisting that things had to be done your way. If I see you arguing with or insisting on things being done your way, I will block this account immediately. No more edit warring over images, no more edit warring over cast lists, no more any negative behavior from you, or I will block you. You've been given a second chance, but you are on a short leash. AniMate 04:45, 8 March 2012 (UTC)
I think that you are lucky Soapfan, especially cosidering your behaviour in January. And after you warned me off taking part in any discussion you do, because I cited policy. So I find AniMate's above post very fair.Rain the 1 05:12, 8 March 2012 (UTC)

I'm gonna be honest with you Animate, I read some of the stuff on my old talk page and was like "what was I thinking?" I said some horrible stuff to you and Kafziel, TAnthony and a whole bunch of other people and I truly am sorry for the way I acted, I know that was 3 years ago but dude, I was a moron for treating you like that, I was an immature little brat. Edit warring over Todd Manning picture again

As I stated on my talk page, "Why are you even asking me after I already explained on Musicfreak7676's talk page? You left the deciding-on-a-new-image part up to me, as part of the image compromise. That means that the image Musicfreak7676 uploaded would eventually be changed (sooner or later) anyway...because I don't like it. Why are you even edit warring over an image yet again after you were very recently given a stern warning by AniMate about that and how he is very close to blocking you if you continue this behavior since you should be blocked anyway? You could have easily discussed this before reverting me, but you immediately jumped to reverting without waiting for me to reply. And why? Because you most likely already knew what I was going to say (seeing as my brief statement about it is on Musicfreak's talk page), and you only wanted your way, as you always want your way with images (that is the editing history of your previous account). Yes, I reverted before discussion, but I had a valid reason for doing so: What is to be the main image was already extensively discussed. I do not have time to put up with your or anyone else's obsession with images. Do you even know what a good picture is? It seems that you don't because you and Alexisfan07 caused an uproar the last time you (both) changed a perfectly good picture of Todd to a picture that is not as good, and now you want an even worse picture as the main image? Let me be clearer: A picture being in HD does not make it a good or better picture. If Todd does not look great in it, and he doesn't in either of these two pictures, I am going to reject it." Flyer22 (talk) 14:24, 8 March 2012 (UTC)

Look I am not trying to start an edit war over this, you didn't like my last pic and I know you don't like Musicfreaks's that doesn't mean you can change it automatically like that, lets leave it up the people to decide which pic gets the main image, that's what you should've done in the first place. P.J. (talk) 17:59, 8 March 2012 (UTC)
No, that is not what I should have done because this matter was already decided. In order for past WP:Consensus to be overridden, new WP:Consensus must be achieved. You or Musicfreak starting a discussion about it is what should have been done, just like Musicfreak has recently done. Flyer22 (talk) 18:17, 8 March 2012 (UTC)

Yes and I already put my two sense in, look that was 4 months ago, yet you haven't uploaded an image, but that's not the point, the point is I think that Musicfreak's image is better than mine, it's still Roger Howarth, doesn't matter if he looks good or not, I don't care how he looks just that it's the actor that's playing him. The fact is, our images are both Roger Howarth, his quality is clearer than mine. GH has better cameras than OLTL had. P.J. (talk) 18:27, 8 March 2012 (UTC)

It was in January, to be exact. Not four months ago. And how you can argue that "it's still Roger Howarth" and yet fight over which image should be used, as well as that it "doesn't matter if he looks good or not" when that is a key factor to selecting any image on Misplaced Pages, boggles my mind. That is what we should be going for. The better image is the one where an actor/character looks best. If it was a matter of barely being able to see the actor/character, then I would understand your point. But, as it stands, both images are clear. One of the images being clearer than the other, in your opinion, is not a valid reason for keeping the image where the actors looks worse. Flyer22 (talk) 18:36, 8 March 2012 (UTC)

I put my own two sense in with this, I'm done. I agree with Musicfreak. I'm not gonna get into a fight with you, if you can find a better image be my guest. P.J. (talk) 18:41, 8 March 2012 (UTC)

Roger Howarth as Todd Manning

Hello, Soapfan2013. You have new messages at File talk:RogerHowarthToddManning2011.jpg.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

NOTE TO YOU: Now it's going to be a consensus on the image, if I can help it.

Just a tip...

When re-adding an actor, copy/paste it from the "previous" ones in one fll edit. It's easier and you're likely to get the most accurate information. MusicFreak7676 19:23, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

Ok, sorry I thought I was in trouble for readding Kimberly, but thanx I will remember that, yeah I knew she was gonna be back, I bet they had a news article to throw us off. P.J. (talk) 20:27, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

No, I still think she's leaving. I just don't think February was her final date. MusicFreak7676 20:29, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

Are you sure the first duration was from 1985-1996, cuz on the article it says 1997 P.J. (talk) 20:36, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

Fixed it. On both the cast list and article. MusicFreak7676 21:02, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

Kristina Davis

You cannot remove her last airdate, nor her cause of leave yet. That violates WP:CRYSTALBALL. So it remains until Lindsey Morgan debuts in May as Kristina. Thank you. If you have something to say, please reply on your talk page. MusicFreak7676 16:33, 19 April 2012 (UTC)

List of General Hospital cast members

2012 is listed twice for Roger Howarth because Howarth left in March and was not due to begin his contract until yesterday, the 9th. So it remains as "2012, 2012—" just as it did with Brianna Brown and her appearance(s) as Lisa Niles. Howarth stopped appearing on recurring and just started as contract, returning to the series. That's why it's listed twice and should stay that way. MusicFreak7676 05:13, 10 May 2012 (UTC)

What your gonna list everytime a character returns, even though it's the same year? dude it's the same year, 2012 should not be listed twice, technically he's been playing the role since March 5th 2012 on General Hospital, he may have not been on, but he was still playing the role, he was listed as a contract cast member since March, therefore making it 2012-, not 2012, 2012-, if he appeared in like 2010, I could see that being listed, same with Brianna Brown, she ended in 2011, there is no reason why she has to have 2011 listed twice, it does not make any sense to have things listed twice, it's the same year. P.J. (talk) 17:00, 10 May 2012 (UTC)

2012 should and will be listed twice PJ. It's how it does. He left the show and stopped appearing. It's how it goes on these lists. And he was prematurely moved to contract when she should not have been. That was someone else's mistake. It does make sense since they stopped appearing. If you remove it, I will re-add it each and every time. MusicFreak7676 17:08, 10 May 2012 (UTC)

It's the same year dude, he started appearing in 2012, and guess what he still is appearing in 2012, it should be 2012- not 2012, 2012-, it's still 2012 MF, if it was a differnet year I would understand, but it's not. Brianna Brown should be listed as 2010-2011, not 2010-2011, 2011, she played the role from 2010-2011, you don't need to list every single duration if it's the same year dude, and a good example would be Erika Slezak, he went on vacation, maternity leave, yet she had 1971- all that time she appeared on and off screen during her 40 years, and if I remember correctly it was you who added RH to the cast list in the contract section when he became a contract member. And you had it at 2012- P.J. (talk) 20:19, 10 May 2012 (UTC)

PJ, your explanation makes no sense, and it's just not how it's done. And maternity leave is different than flat-out stopping an appearance. It's staying 2012, 2012— and if you continue to try and change it I will report you for trying to distrupt the article. And it'd be "2010–11" not "2010-2011" just so you know. Your reasoning is wrong. MusicFreak7676 20:40, 10 May 2012 (UTC)

I haven't edited it since last night, and it does not make any sense to have it 2012, 2012- it's the same year, RH has been on GH since 2012, there are no two 2012, look at Adriana Cramer she played the role from 2004-2008, 2010 when she appeared on screen in 2008 after she left, it is not listed as 2004-2008, 2008, 2008, 2010, it's listed as 2004-2008, 2010. RH and BB should be 2012- and 2010-11. P.J. (talk) 20:54, 10 May 2012 (UTC)

No. They shouldn't PJ and I'm not arguing this anymore because it's clear you refuse to understand accept something other than your opinion, just like you've done in the past. It stays. Period. End of story. MusicFreak7676 21:11, 10 May 2012 (UTC)

Is there a rule that says it has to be 2012, 2012- because I was not aware of that rule, I was taught on here that it says the way I had it 2012-, not 2012, 2012- so unless you can gimme some kinda source that says different, I will change it back. You nee to gimme a source of the way you had it, this is not your wikipedia, these are not your articles, we have to discuss how things are listed, you don't have to list every little detail, this is not a fan site dude, why don't you go back to your music articles and let things be the way they are? P.J. (talk) 05:26, 11 May 2012 (UTC)

You change it, I report you. It's how I was told how to do it by another editor. HE STOPPED APPEARING AS TODD. HIS GUEST APPEARANCES WERE STOPPED. STOP TRYING TO BE RIGHT!! Howarth appeared and then stopped, and then signed the contract. He stopped appearing, so it's 2012, 2012—. If you change it, I will report you and will get you blocked. And with your sock-puppet case I will bring it up that you're not learning from the experience at all. Don't pull the fansite rule with me PJ, after all you've done in the past, you're not learning from your it and it is concerning. And now you're being far out rude. So why don't you go back to Sockpuppeting, since that's what you do best on here. MusicFreak7676 16:39, 11 May 2012 (UTC)

I was told the other way, so who is right, me or you? Why are you threatening me did I change it? no, am I going too, maybe, lets see how other editors think about this situation. Post it on the talk page, cuz I was told the other way, not your way, yeah he stopped appearing, but technically it's the same year so it's 2012- P.J. (talk) 20:46, 11 May 2012 (UTC)

OMG PJ! Just stop. I've had long lasted editors tell me how it is is right. You're the one with the issue. And I wanna know who told you then because I have never seen it on your talk page. He stopped appearing. Period. He appeared as recurring, then is now appearing as contract. It's been done on other cast lists I've seen as well. Like when John Aniston stopped appearing on DAYS, he was cut off at 2004. Then they put 2004—. It's the same thing. MusicFreak7676 21:42, 11 May 2012 (UTC)

I was told by TAnthony that if it's the same year don't bother, I think it was on his page, but yeah that was like years ago, I listed it the same way you did, and I got in trouble for it so if things have changed, than things have changed, I'm just goin by what he said cuz he helped me out on my other nic. I see your point dude, he left, and came back, I see your point. He probably wouldn't remember anyway. That was like 4 years ago man so. I don't think he even knows that I'm back. P.J. (talk) 00:44, 12 May 2012 (UTC)

MusicFreak, your posts constantly sound desperate, immature and hysterical. Grow up already. Also it's hilarious how you close discussions on your talk page. What a baby, honestly. 219.79.90.44 (talk) 13:00, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
