Hi. I have blanked the article ] pending the resolution of the conversation at the talk page about the copyright status of the booklet from which you've evidently copied text. I'm afraid that if you are under the impression that the booklet isn't copyrighted because it doesn't bear a copyright notice or because it wasn't published by a professional publishing house, you're mistaken. Copyright protection is automatically established when text is created. Previously published text can only be put on Misplaced Pages if we can prove that it has been released into public domain or is otherwise free for use. See our ]. | |||
I am also concerned about some of the images you have in ], specifically the ones that are also reproduced at . Some of these images may be old enough to be public domain, but the ones labeled "Frank & Mary’s 2nd Building" and "Frank & Mary's Today" are not. If you are the copyright owner, you are in position to license these, but you have to verify this license through the ] process. If you are not the copyright owner, you have to verify permission from the copyright owner. Information on this process is at ]. --] ] 16:33, 7 August 2009 (UTC) |

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Misplaced Pages:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{helpme}}

Logos
Again, you did not create these images yourself: File:Indianalogomuseum.JPG, File:Children logo.JPG, and File:Dinologo.JPG. They are copyrighted images. You may still use them on Misplaced Pages, but you must attribute them to the original source. Thanks, Reywas92 17:43, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
- This image as well: File:1859 balloon voyage.JPG. It says you created the image yourself and is released into the publis domain, but it's copyrighted. If you continue this, I will have to report you. Thanks, Reywas92 17:50, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
How do you change it to copyright? Sedna10387 (talk) 17:51, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
I can do the ones you've already added. It just involves changing the description to template:Logo fur. But in the future, when you go to the upload page Misplaced Pages:Upload, instead of choosing Entirely my own work, click on The logo of an organization . Good luck, Reywas92 17:55, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
Thank you!you've helped me out a whole lot! Sedna10387 (talk) 17:56, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
- No problem. Please ask if you need any more help. You're still learning the ropes of Misplaced Pages so you've made some mistakes, but your contributions have been very useful. Is File:1859balloon.JPG an image you actually took? I can turn it right side up so we don't have to use the copyrighted image. Reywas92 18:03, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
Yes, it is! I went on the balloon on Tues and took pictures that day of it. That would be helpful! Sedna10387 (talk) 18:04, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
- Done. Where around Indy do you live? I'm in Fishers and have been meaning to go up in the balloon. You may want to join our Wikiprojects, collaborations about the region, WP:INDIANA and WP:INDIANAPOLIS. If you'd like, you can also create a WP:USERPAGE to share information about yourself and list articles you're interested in. Reywas92 18:13, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
I'm from Pittsboro, Indiana. That's in Hendricks County. I would love to join. Sedna10387 (talk) 18:15, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
Uploading images - some pointers
Hi Sedna10387, I have deleted a few of your uploads and more will be deleted for not meeting the site's image policies.. Before uploading any more I strongly suggest you acquaint yourself with these policies so that you have a more enjoyable time here. There are three options for image uploads at Misplaced Pages:
- You took the image yourself (with your camera) - in this case you are largely free to upload the image under any of the free licence. Be aware though that taking an image of an artwork, magazine or other creative work may make your image a derivative work and mean that you cannot release it under a free image.
- You found the image on a website or elsewhere that has a free licence (GFDL, creative commons etc.) - in this case as long as you attribute the source and select the same licence that they have used there is usually no issue
- All other images are non-free and must meet the non-free content guidline and the 10 non-free content criteria. The most fundamental of these is that we do not host a non-free image if it is possible to obtain or create a free replacement. For living people and existing buildings/objects it is almost always possible to create such an image.
Please drop me a note if any of this is unclear. Happy editing - Peripitus (Talk) 07:15, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
- Ok - I've deleted many and left a few images. Those that I've left are onse that seem to meet the non-free guidline or those that were taken with a "Canon PowerShot A540" which I assume is your camera - Peripitus (Talk) 07:46, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
Editing suggestions
Hello, and thanks for your edits on the Conner Prairie article. I've noticed that you are making a lot of small edits, and had a few ideas that you might find helpful:
- Before you save an edit, use the "Show preview" button to make sure the edit does what you intend. (See Help:Show preview)
- Leave an edit summary describing/explaining each edit. This shows when you view an article history and when you look at changes on your watchlist. (See Help:Edit summary)
- When applicable, use the "minor edit" checkbox to mark edits as minor. (See: Help:Minor edit)
If you try these, you might find that you can accomplish just as much in fewer edits, and you'll have an easier time reviewing your past changes. If you have any questions or need any help with editing Misplaced Pages, just drop me a line on my talk page. Cheers! cmadler (talk) 15:29, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
Moving sections
Is there any specific reason why you are going through all these articles about towns in Indiana and moving sections around? The generally accepted practice is to put the History section first. --LP 02:00, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
THANKS Sedna10387 (talk) 11:40, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
- PLEASE STOP with the weird page moves of Jacksonville, Florida et al. NawlinWiki (talk) 21:26, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
Can you change it to just Jacksonville? Sedna10387 (talk) 21:27, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
- I'm not sure that this would be consistent with Misplaced Pages naming policy -- but in any case, please discuss this at Talk:Jacksonville, Florida before attempting another page move by yourself. Thanks, NawlinWiki (talk) 21:30, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
Frank and Mary's Restaurant and Lounge
I've been following the progress on the above-captioned article and I'm concerned that you may be wasting your efforts by working on the article without addressing the reason that the speedy deletion tags are there. Essentially what is being asked for is proof that someone -- some restaurant reviewer or newspaper columnist or book author -- thinks that this restaurant is significant or notable. You've made a number of recent changes that don't address that issue, and time is running out. Do you need help in understanding what's being asked for, or is it that you believe you've addressed that issue already? (Because in my understanding, you haven't addressed it at all.) If you require help, you can leave me a note by clicking on the word "talk" after my signature. Accounting4Taste:talk 18:12, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
- I have moved the article to your user space at User:Sedna10387/Frank and Mary's Restaurant and Lounge so that you can work on it without it being deleted. As Accounting4Taste noted in the talk page, the next administrator (me) would have deleted the article. I read the included references and none of them establish the restaurant's notability. The review in the Illinois Times was not very substantial in my opinion: she went, she ate, she says they are disappearing. She really didn't talk about the place very much. The waymarking reference is not in depth coverage of the restaurant either. It is just a listing of a restaurant from a geotagging site that does not establish why the restaurant is notable. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 05:52, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
Frank and Mary's sources
Here are a few news results: http://news.google.com/archivesearch?um=1&ned=us&hl=en&q=%22Frank+and+Mary%27s%22&cf=all, but none of them are substantial. Individual restaurants just usually aren't very notable. Reywas92 13:50, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
Copyright concerns
Hi. I have blanked the article History of Pittsboro, Indiana pending the resolution of the conversation at the talk page about the copyright status of the booklet from which you've evidently copied text. See our copyright policy.
I am also concerned about some of the images you have in User:Sedna10387/Frank and Mary's Restaurant and Lounge, specifically the ones that are also reproduced at . Some of these images may be old enough to be public domain, but the ones labeled "Frank & Mary’s 2nd Building" and "Frank & Mary's Today" are not. If you are the copyright owner, you are in position to license these, but you have to verify this license through the "donating copyrighted materials" process. If you are not the copyright owner, you have to verify permission from the copyright owner. Information on this process is at "requesting copyright permission". --Moonriddengirl 16:33, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
