Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||
---|---|---|
Shortcuts
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.
Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level Request unprotection Request a specific edit to a protected page Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here Request edit |

Concerns and controversies over the 2008 Summer Olympics (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
full-protect. Proxy request on behalf of User:Badagnani. He has claimed to have warned me on sixteen occasions that I have blanked huge chunks of text without proper consensus. I would say that he is the sole dissenting editor, as most other editors appear to believe there is a consensus for the cleanup. I would ask an administrator to rule on the issue. Ohconfucius (talk) 05:05, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
- Admins don't rule on issues, in general. Declined for now because most of the edits are constructive. Recommend engaging on the talk page, and if it degrades into a revert or edit war, please relist. Stifle (talk) 08:23, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Full protection Single user insists on creating a separate article on this space instead of a redirect over consensus. NeoChaosX (talk, edits) 04:46, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
- Declined If the problem is a single user, try first to deal with it as a user problem (discuss, warn, eventual block). DMacks (talk) 06:00, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
Template:Underoath/Info (edit | ] | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Permanent Semi-Protection – The infobox has been continously changed by IP vandals. So I had a short discussion with other page authors and agreed to move it to a template and transclude it so that only the infobox can be editted and leave the rest of the page unprotected. I requested that the page be unprotected earlier today but since then the page has experience more vandalism. – Jerry 12:21, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
- Declined. This shouldn't really be a template, to be honest, and there is no evidence of vandalism at all. Stifle (talk) 14:59, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
- , & . All in one afternoon after being unprotected. Also, more edits were made 3 times after I made it a template which brings it to 6 times it has been changed. Also the infobox was heavily changed by IPs before it was protected. – Jerry 22:45, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
- I suggested the template idea because the infobox seems to continously have the genre changed (there is loads of discussion on the talk page and even a warning above the genre. If you decline this still than i'll revert it back to normal and if it continues i'll bring the main article here for protection. – Jerry 22:49, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
- No evidence of vandalism at all?? You must have looked at that rather quickly. Intentionally adding incorrect info is in fact vandalism. We have to constantly watch the article and revert random IP's that ignore the talk page and consensus. Landon1980 (talk) 22:57, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, I think I know why. I think that they thought I was talking about the template page being vandalized, but in fact it is the main article. I'll just relist this. – Jerry 03:42, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
- I have certainly no idea whether changing from Metalcore to Christian Metalcore is vandalism. You seem to have a content dispute on your hands. Just because you disagree with it doesn't make it vandalism. Stifle (talk) 08:21, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

Current requests for unprotection
ShortcutsBefore posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Picture This (film) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
There is an article called Picture This (2008 film) that should probably be moved to Picture This (film) since there is no other film with that title. I assume it was protected because it's a Disney teen film and it hadn't been released yet (I don't know for sure). It has been released now and, with the other article anyway, the protection could probably be removed. Semi-protection may still be warranted after the move. --Wolfer68 (talk) 02:45, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
Current requests for edits to a protected page
ShortcutIdeally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

Semi-protection requested. We currently have an IP editor edit warring over the capitalization of one of the section headers. They were banned for 24 hours for violating the 3RR but are back within 12 hours with a different IP. We are currently engaged in a talk page discussion over it but the editor in question is not waiting until the discussion has concluded. IPs used so far are: 76.20.25.186 70.133.65.158 (3RR violation banned) and 70.133.68.121 Request a temporary protection on the article itself but not the talk page until we can get this sorted out. - IMO, semi-protection should stay, due to the IP vandalism that comes up as soon as the article is lifted off protection, as you can tell from the articlelog that when protection has expired in the past, the vandalism rises again. D.M.N. (talk) 18:01, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
