Source/copyright

Can you provide source/copyright infor for Image:Mitrup.jpg? BDAbramson T 19:59, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

  • Regarding Mitchell Rupe, I removed the image because it has no copyright information - you can not use an image that is owned by someone else, because the copyright laws permit the image owner to sue you for infringement if you do that. I'm guessing that this image is owned by the Associated Press, since it appeared in an AP article on CNN. BDAbramson T 21:22, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Image-davis353.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Image-davis353.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Misplaced Pages because of copyright law (see Misplaced Pages's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Misplaced Pages are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me or ask for help at Misplaced Pages talk:Image copyright tags. Thank you. -- Carnildo 13:26, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

copyright violation

Hi Ipernar, I have replaced articles that you have started with material copied from news article with stubs. The articles in question are Botan Ise Alin, Alliance for the Restoration of Peace and Counterterrorism and Second Battle of Mogadishu. Please see Misplaced Pages:Copyrights#Using copyrighted work from others for more. Basically, you should never use copyrighted text on Misplaced Pages, as it creates tremendous legal difficulties for the website. I appreciate that there are few users adding content about Somalia, but it is far better to write a very small article yourself and wait for other Wikipedians to add more. I didn't check your edit history; if you have started other articles using copyrighted materials, please go back and remove the bad material and restart with a couple sentences. You may also be interested in Misplaced Pages:Africa-related regional notice board. Thanks, BT 23:15, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

License tagging for Image:Hostage kim.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Hostage kim.jpg. Misplaced Pages gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Misplaced Pages, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Misplaced Pages:Media copyright questions. 18:07, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

Image:Niv.jpg listed for deletion

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:Niv.jpg has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Misplaced Pages by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Misplaced Pages, a non-profit website, this is in fact not the case. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Misplaced Pages needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Misplaced Pages, you may re-upload it, but use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Misplaced Pages, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Misplaced Pages:Media copyright questions. Thank you. J Di  16:27, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

Old Testament article changes

I changed the reference to the Catholic Church changing the Sabbath and removing the 2nd commandment and replaced it with more accurate information, with relevant references to show that the Catholic Church does in fact believe the Apostles instituted Sunday observance and that no commandment has been deleted. Fair use rationale for Image:Zarqawi1.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Zarqawi1.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Misplaced Pages articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Misplaced Pages:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Misplaced Pages policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Videmus Omnia 13:37, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Ivan Čuček requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Misplaced Pages guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. TRIRASH 13:05, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

Ivan Čuček

Hi Ipernar, I see you're wondering why the article was deleted. If I remember correctly, it was about a Catholic priest accused of abusing children. Please read Misplaced Pages:Verifiability. You need to back up such claims with a reliable source. Also, Misplaced Pages has a biography of living persons policy. Negatively unsourced material may be removed at any time. So if you want to re-create the article, make sure you provide sources and that he meets the notability guidelines. If you have any questions, just leave a message. Thanks. List of Roman Catholic clergy charged with sex offenses edits

Please do not add unreferenced or controversial information about living persons to Misplaced Pages articles. Thank you. -- SiobhanHansa 14:11, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

See my comments at Roman Catholic Church#Murder, Torture, Genocide, Kidnapping and Satanic ritual cases you are more likely to achieve consensus for your proposed additions by putting them forward on the talk page first, when you have found good sources and so on, rahter than inserting them in unfinished form into what is already a very long article. You have been reverted twice (by different people) already, and note that we are both Anglicans, so have no particular vested interest in covering up the problems of the RCC. David Underdown 15:29, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
I've only reverted you once. David Underdown 15:33, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

Please stop adding unreferenced controversial biographical content to articles. Content of this nature could be regarded as defamatory and is in violation of Misplaced Pages policy. If you continue, you will be blocked from editing Misplaced Pages. David Underdown is correct. A change of this magnitude really needs to be proposed on the talk page to gather consensus. I will continue to revert in the absence of consensus. -- SECisek 15:35, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

This is the last warning you will receive for your disruptive edits.
The next time you violate Misplaced Pages's biographies of living persons policy by inserting unsourced defamatory content into an article, you will be blocked from editing Misplaced Pages. --SECisek 15:46, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

Your recent edits

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Misplaced Pages pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot 15:32, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Nuns142.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Nuns142.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Misplaced Pages:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Misplaced Pages:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Misplaced Pages policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 08:43, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

Articles for deletion

I have nominated your articles for deletion, and am letting you know as a courtesy. The articles Christian Sabbatarianism and Opposition to Christian Sabbatarianism are a POV-fork from Sabbath in Christianity. Also, please discuss proposed changes on the talk page before making massive changes like that, particularly as the article is moderately controversial and has been edited by a lot of people. If you wish to learn more about Misplaced Pages's policies, please comment on my talk page. Colin MacLaurin 11:48, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Altar boys sexual abuse

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Altar boys sexual abuse, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Misplaced Pages's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Misplaced Pages is not" and Misplaced Pages's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Altar boys sexual abuse.
