:All of this is still needed, 10 years later. I at least just expanded the lead section with a number of the most basic concepts/definitions, but this topic could really fill a whole book (and has). Spherical disk is a reasonable name. It's also sometimes called a spherical cap. –jacobolus (t) 19:32, 22 July 2023 (UTC)
